It’s fine. It's literally the definition of a fine movie. You’ve seen it before, you know every beat and outcome before the characters even do. Only question is how much escapism you’re looking for.

The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.

One of the finest movies in the history of Bollywood. All the credits goes to Farhan Akhtar. It can be categorized as 'One of the Best Motivational Movie'. Hrithik Roshan has done some serious hard work for this movie. The cinematography done is a real piece of beauty. Sensational acting by The Legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan. The way he has acted in the movie makes you even appreciate him even more. Boman Irani at best at his part. Preity Zinta and Hrithik Roshan make a good pair as always. The Photography Director Christopher Popp's work has just been awesome. The background score is something I've never heard before, it's just too good. Shankar Eshaan Loy with their magical touches to the songs. Hats off to the stuntmen for their incredible stunts. One must definitely this movie at least once, as it really tells us how our Indian Soldiers guard our nation day and night, period.

Having watched this movie some 25-odd times I could talk about this movie over and over again. It is a Story of a guy named karan shergill who comes from well to do family and has nothing better to do other than to hang with his friends and enjoy all the luxuries of life hard earned by his father ,karan has nothing permanent in his life other than his love interest played by preity zinta who comes from an highly educated background is serious of becoming a journalist.karan's seriousness towards his career in life could be felt and seen as he keeps repeating things heard from here and there and decides to join army inspired by seeing arnold schwarznegger's action flick. As he joins the army against his family wishes his non-serious nature comes into limelight as he runs away from military academy, Seeing zinta's reaction to this, he simply could not bear the pain and disrespect in their eyes and decides to go back and join the army again in order to win back the respect of his parents and zinta. As soon as he passes from the academy he is posted to defend his nation for kagil war where his regiment lead by amitabh bachan is given the task of vacating peak 5179 from intruders. The movie is a must watch with beautiful work of cinematography and locations of north India which will provide you a real warlike feel. The various war operations like briefing, patrolling and how wars are actually carried out are well defined and shot. The emotions of loss of fellow soldier, respect for enemy and importance of little laugh and goofing up at war-time for soldier is well taken care of describing what soldier goes through in those situations, the movie does not losses its hold in justifying its title and rightly depicts struggle of a youth for realizing an aim as anybody has to go through pain in realizing his/her potential and aim. Don't miss the scenes which depicts KARAN'S estranged relationship with his Dad that tells us in a very practical way that people are not like as they behave to us and the kind of time and attention they provide us. I would have gone with 8/10 for Farhan Akhtar's LAKSHYA but just bcoz i could empathize with lead character well played by HRITHIK ROSHAN and wonderful instrumental track of "Seperation" & "Victory" and after effects the movie had on me blended with ace direction of FARHAN AKHTAR (who earlier Debuted with Dil Chahta Hai) that can't have been more better, my rating is perfect 10

If you want to see the beauty of the war torn area of northern India, you have to get the blue ray DVD of this one. The way farhan shows the peaks and the valleys of kargil, its breath taking. The movie begins with the protagonist going to his posting. I was sold in the initial 15 minutes. The jeep going through different valleys and mountains showing off the grandeur of Himalayas pictured with full justice to the scenery. I was lucky enough to watch the movie on the big screen and it was jaw dropping good. this movie hits you at many levels. But I would have to say the best part is the cinematography.Even later when he is trying to show the war even then its shown with impeccable brilliance.the Shots of the army helicopters and the gun shots at nights, you have to see it to believe it. But that's not all, it also has a gripping story, Hrithik fits just into the role of a zero to hero perfectly. good luck for your future work farhan.

I saw Lakshya two years after its release. I just loved this war film. It was technically brilliant like the camera-work, audiography, etc. I think Lakshya is one of the best war films made in India.India should be proud of Lakshya and Farhan Akhtar. Lakshya is set in the 1999 Kargil war between India and its neighbor Pakistan. This war is very important in Indian history. This was a war where hundreds of soldiers died for their motherland and Lakshya was a befitting tale on the war as its backdrop.Farhan has directed the film very realistically without making it too jingoistic like LOC Kargil. This film gives complete respect to the Indian Military Academy and the Indian army. The film shows that if a human being wants to achieve something in life, he can do it, come what may if he puts his heart and soul into it and that is what Karan Shergil did in the film. The performances are top notch. I have always liked Hrithik Roshan and he is marvelous in this film. He is the best dancer in India. Amitji is also very good. Very strong acting from AB. Om Puri, another great actor should have been given more footage but he was also excellent. Preity was good. Overall, amazing experience.
