Instead, you get a movie that's enjoyable enough, but leaves you feeling like it could have been much, much more.

a film so unique, intoxicating and bizarre that it not only demands another viewing, but is also forgivable as a satirical comedy where the jokes eventually take the back seat.

In my opinion, this is the best movie in the 'Die Hard' series. It has become a classic shown around Christmas time, since the action in the movie takes place around this holiday. When the NY police officer John McClane (played by Bruce Willis) lands in LA to visit his family, he has no idea that his day will turn into a nightmare where he will be outgunned and outmanned while trying to survive and trying to find his way out of this mess. While the performance of Bruce Willis as John McClane didn't win him any awards, this should be considered as his iconic break-out into fame role. As a protagonist of this movie he's by no means perfect, but still gets the audience on his side while he battles his nemesis Hans Gruber. Hans is brilliantly played by Alan Rickman - he's confident, ruthless and one step ahead of law enforcement in terms of executing his plan. The only thing he didn't account for was... John McClane. The movie provides an entertaining battle between the two, while also throws some punches and makes fun of the police, the FBI and the media about how cliché and ignorant they can be in crisis situations. If you like action movies, this definitely is a must-see or as John McClane would say, "Welcome to the party, pal."

Christmas with John McClane! One of the best action thrillers, suspensful and action packed with a memorable villain(Alan Rickman) and a bad ass hero(Willis). Started the now legendary series. 1-3 are classics, 4th is quite enjoyable! ..but stay away from the 5th - complete garbage!

As an ardent action film lover, I usually won't like to miss a good action movie. When I found that this movie was highly acclaimed and even hailed the best action movie ever, I decided to give it a shot. DIE HARD is really a masterfully crafted action film which stays true to not just its genre and subject, but to all my expectations as well. It really deserves all the praise it has received in these years. One of the most charming things about DIE HARD is its protagonist John McClane played excellently by Bruce Willis. No matter how greater the peril, the hero always stays cool and makes you like him even more. Believe me, John McClaine's character is the redefinition of heroism at its best and coolest! The action is splendid. Every single action sequence is exciting, spectacular and worth watching again and again. There are a lot of intense moments which succeed in building and further holding the attention. The cinematography is also decent. Another great thing is that amidst all the action and thrill, the director has spared some time for natural humor and a lot of memorable one liners. The screenplay is excellent and so is the editing. The film never seems to bore and holds the attention for the most part. Some bonds which the protagonist forms with supporting characters is a complete treat to watch. This is one film which you'll never regret watching again and again, given the powerful execution which has rendered it as a multiple-time watch. There's no doubt why it's one of the greatest action movies of all time. I'll look forward to its sequels as well in future, but DIE HARD has actually caught my mind so hard that I'm gonna love and remember it forever.

Th is film is the ultimate thrill ride - action don't get any better than this classic. The formula has since been repeated so many times, but the original still sets the standard by which I judge an action film. Endless quotable moments, brilliant acting, and constructed better than any action film could dream about today. Should be seen every Christmas and thoughout the rest of the year.
