Jenny Farrell is getting married. But how will her straight-laced family react when they find out that the woman they thought was their daughter’s roommate is actually her fiancée? As the old-fashioned Farrells attempt to come to terms with the prospect of a surprise daughter-in-law, they face a difficult choice: either adapt with the times or risk being left behind.

The movie starts off OK. We've got Katherine Heigl as a lesbian comming out of the closet, with conservative parents, gossiping sister and a brother. And showing the hipocrisy of the parents and the conflict is pretty interesting. But then an hour passes and it gets so horrificly boring. Of course the movie needs a cliche happy end so everyone has to make up. But it just becomes lazy and basically shows the montage of the offended father with preparations for the wedding. The brother has no purpose in a movie. The sister and her husband are just awkward. They only serve the purpose of showing that straight relationships can be toxic, but it is done in a such lazy way... The father's character is inconsistant. First you think he's going to support his daughter no mather what. Then he turns his back on her cause she made one scene. The mother is the most interesting and best acted character. You can understand the conflict between "what will people say" and "that is my daughter". Once they get along the movie could end for all that I care. The main character's love interest has no personality or backstory whatsoever. We only find out that she's a teacher and her mother lives far away. We don't find out anything about whether her parents even come to the wedding. It's Jenny's Wedding, not Kitty's. Kitty is just an accessory. And finally - Jenny. I don't personally hate Katherine Heigl, nor do I adore her. Here she is just a generic character that you basically don't care about enough to like the movie.

Good looking film, solid acting chops and intelligent script. What's not to like.Kathryn Heigl brings a realistic strength to Jenny, without a trace of cliché 'Hollywood lesbian'ie policewoman, army sergeant, or strident media queen. She's a pretty woman in love, with parents who just don't get who their little girl has become, and her marriage choice. These are caring and intelligent people mining an unknown field. The soundtrack is a total match and a stunning feature. When Kasey Jones' wandering lyrics to 'Lost in Love' pour out from Kristina Train, Jenny's Wedding becomes a tender journey down the aisle to love actually.

Apparently Katherine Heigl has attracted a bunch of people who don't like her for whatever reason and therefore don't like any movie she's in. I have always found her an appealing screen presence. This movie is about a lesbian coming out to her family and how they all react and come to terms with it. Jenny's family is portrayed as both very conventional and very oblivious. A bit hard for me to believe that with the exception of her brother, the thought that Jenny is lesbian never crossed any of their minds. This is not academy award material, but it is a good movie with a very good cast. The movie is, to use an overused phrase. "fair and balanced", showing the point of view of everyone in the family with none of them being either a villain or a saint.I would definitely recommend this movie.

I thought the movie would have been better than this. They were promoting it so well, but overall it was just that bad. At the start, I was really hoping it was good and I related to the air tension in keeping this a secret, but it spiraled down when the star couple showed up.Let me tell you this: Jenny and Kitty had a pretend relationship. That was what I felt from the first moment I saw them together and that's how I felt through all of the movie. They weren't right together, at all. First off? You don't freaking leave your significant other when she's off to do something important. You stick TOGETHER. If you're in the god damn forest with your partner and you're surrounded by wolves, you don't freaking run, you bish.Second of all, when you know your partner blew up about something embarrassing around a bunch of people and it includes you, you don't just cuddle with her to make her feel better, you gosh darn talk about how inappropriate about that. Wtf, girl, are you just some kind of rug to step on? Wtf.I don't even want to mention the part where they were trying out dresses. The only thing I actually liked about this movie was Jenny's sister's story, because THAT made me feel more for the girl than for any other character blabbing around willy-nilly.
