Slow pace in the most part of the movie.

... View MoreIf you're interested in the topic at hand, you should just watch it and judge yourself because the reviews have gone very biased by people that didn't even watch it and just hate (or love) the creator. I liked it, it was well written, narrated, and directed and it was about a topic that interests me.
... View MoreI think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.
... View MoreI was looking forward to this movie, but c'mon... when Alexis Biedel's character is breezily sauntering around looking for bullets, and runs into the other gang of assassins who were hired to do the same job, she doesn't think to warn her partner who is back at the apartment alone - with no bullets? The story line just made a big deal about her last partner being killed, but... "No, I'm a Gilmore girl -- it won't happen today.". Then it gets even more stupid, when after offing the other assassin crew in James Gandolfini's apartment, and someone knocks on the door, they're sitting there all freaked out because they again "have no bullets left" -- yet there's what, five dead assassins on the floor at their feet -- they've got lots of bullets -- and guns to put them in (in case they don't match the girl's weapons)! But, "Oh no, we only know how to shoot our own guns... we WILL only shoot our own guns, even if it means certain death!". WTF!!! Had to turn it off then, can only handle so much stupid in my lifetime. And just to be clear, the problem(s) with this film for me, wasn't with the actual acting or actors, but the script, the intent, the actors had to work with. It was such a great collection of talent -- all pretty much wasted here in my opinion.
... View MoreThis is a really difficult movie to review, since it doesn't neatly fit into any category. I like odd movies, and this one certainly qualifies. It starts out seeming to be a black comedy about teenage girl hired killers, but as it develops it eventually morphs into a poignant story. Everything about this movie is quite unrealistic, yet I personally didn't find it very hard to suspend disbelief and just go with it (although, admittedly, I was very tired and particularly susceptible when I watched it). The two lead characters developed depth as they confronted the problem of killing someone that they really don't want to kill. I don't want to give anything away, so I'll just say that this movie is strange and unusual, well-filmed and well-scripted, and, at least to me when I happened to watch it, also quite moving. My advice is that if this weird mix sounds like it might be interesting, the runtime is really short, so go ahead and give it a try, since the commitment isn't great.
... View MoreReview: What a weird storyline! 2 hit girls for hire, take on a job so they can afford some dresses and they end up caring for the guy that they are going to kill. The music really did spoil the whole feel of the movie, but on the plus side, it does have a shock factor. You really don't know what is going to happen from some scene to the next, which makes you stick with the movie, just to find out what crazy direction it's going to go in next. Although the storyline is fresh and original, it does have a slight comedy feel to it which is a bit strange for a film of this style. Anyway, it's worth a watch but it's not the type of film that you can watch time and time again. Watchable!Round-Up: This is yet another movie with Saoirse Ronan which might have been slightly better if there was someone else playing her role. In this film her effortless acting style does work because her partner in crime is nuts, but her character could have done with some in depth emotion. Gandolfini put in a great performance, as usual, which shows that his contribution in film will be missed. Danny Trejo's couple of minutes were better than a lot of his full length movies and Alexis Bledel, the girl who played Violet, was very believable and totally crazy. As for the movie, the concept was good but it could have been a lot better.Budget: N/A Worldwide Gross: $18,000 (Terrible!)I recommend this movie to people who are into there drama/thriller/comedy type movies about a couple of hit girls for hire. 4/10
... View MoreWhen you get bored you're likely to watch almost anything. That was me, colder than usual March, and Neflix streaming movies offering me this one. Thing is, I like all the actors ... Ronan, Bledel, Trejo, Gandolfini ... so even if the story was uneven it was enjoyable watching all of them. It sets the tone when we see the two teenagers, dressed in Nun's habits, carrying pizza delivery boxes, and casually chit-chatting about 'girl stuff.' Then they ring a doorbell, and proceed to shoot and kill everyone with the guns hidden in the pizza boxes. Afterwards, with the cops coming, they skip away down the sidewalk as if nothing just happened. They are teen assassins (even though Bledel was 29 during filming, she has a very young face) and now look forward to a break, a vacation. But something happens, popular Barbie Sunday has a new line of clothes and they just have to have new dresses. So they need money and agree to another job.The teens are Saoirse Ronan as Daisy and Alexis Bledel as Violet. Their contact man is always reliable Danny Trejo as Russ. The man they are led to is James Gandolfini as Michael, dying of pancreatic cancer, so when they show up, somewhat expectedly, he is resigned to the whole thing.I am not opposed to good movies about teen assassins, in fact Ronan's 'Hanna', made about the same time and about a young girl who is trained to be an assassin, has become one of my favorites. As is 'The Professional' with a very young Natalie Portman aspiring to be an assassin. But this one never gels for me, the story seems all over the place, and it is strange seeing 'Rory' of 'Gilmore Girls' acting tough and talking dirty. It is an interesting concept but I never was sure what the movie was trying to do.
