everything you have heard about this movie is true.
... View Moren my opinion it was a great movie with some interesting elements, even though having some plot holes and the ending probably was just too messy and crammed together, but still fun to watch and not your casual movie that is similar to all other ones.
... View MoreA film of deceptively outspoken contemporary relevance, this is cinema at its most alert, alarming and alive.
... View MoreThe story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.
... View MoreWhen I was a kid, I was obsessed with horror movies, especially the Jack Frost movies. I've always been intrigued with movies about regular people turning into creatures, and for a serial killer to turn into a snowman was gold! For years, I've only had Jack Frost on VHS and I can't even find that copy anymore, and I was pretty happy when they announced they were releasing it on Blu-Ray. I got it a few days before Christmas, and was transported back to my childhood seeing people being killed by a snowman.A serial killer named Jack Frost has been caught by a small-town Sheriff named Sam Tiler. Sam is traumatized because Jack sends him threatening letters from prison about how he'll escape and kill everyone he loves. On his way to being executed, a tanker containing genetic material collides with the prison truck, freeing Jack. When he gets out of the vehicle, the acid in the tank breaks open and spreads all over Jack as he falls into the snowy ground. Jack's DNA is instantly fused to the snow.Pretty soon, some murders begin to happen in the small town of Snowmonton and Sam becomes convinced that Jack is involved. FBI Agent Manners and Agent Stone investigate and believe that Jack is back, but keep it a secret from the Sheriff. When Jack finally comes after Sam, the chase is on as they try to figure out how to kill him because stabbing him and setting him on fire won't work. The kill scenes are pretty impressive. If you want a 90's B-movie about a killer snowman, I would definitely recommend JACK FROST!!!
... View MoreI remember be a kid like 5-years-old and seeing the front cover of this at a video store and being scared to death. The cover of this is pretty scary and makes the movie look like an full, all- out horror movie. But out can a movie about a killer snowman really be that bad? Truth is, the front cover is misleading: the snowman looks like just a regular snowman that was made with a subpar budget. It is evident that this is low-budget, but there are so many funny and cheesy moments.Jack Frost is a serial killer who is being taken to the death penalty and crashes into a car with a new experimental liquid that makes him become of snowman. That cliché has been done so many times, so who cares? After he becomes the snowman, he opens up giant cans of whop-ass on everyone he comes in contact with. They are all corny and creative and he comes up with hilarious puns along the way. Like there one part where he kills a guy with an ax and says "I only 'axed' you for a smoke." There's another scene where he kills Shannon Elizabeth (in her debut) in a way where you can see how the robotics are being done. No big deal. This movie is awesome and hilarious! Ignore the Michael Keaton movie called Jack Frost.
... View MoreJack Frost is one of those horror movies that might seem like it was horribly directed and horribly made, but you start to realize that the movie is intentionally hilarious. The movie is full of horror movie tropes, but it is clever enough to actually make the tropes hilarious and amazing. The movie opens with hilarious dialogue of an uncle telling her niece a story about a murderer on Christmas Eve... it is quite obvious the niece doesn't want to listen and that the uncle is a bit bloodthirsty. This opening scene is irrelevant to the plot but it puts the viewer's mind in the right view: This movie will use clichés and then make them hilarious. The plot is about a mass murderer who accidentally gets sprayed with genetic altering material which binds his soul to Snow/water. The mass murderer does what you would expect a mass murderer to do... he goes on a rampage and kills people in some hilariously funny ways. For one example, someone hears the voice of the snowman and thinks the murderer has come back so the man runs outside with an axe (but is unaware that the snowman in front of him is the mass murderer. What does Jack Frost do? Grab the axe and kill the man? Yes, but he SHOVES THE HANDLE OF THE axe DOWN THE MAN'S THROAT AT A PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE ANGLE. The axe head sticks out of the man's throat perpendicular to his head, yet the handle isn't sticking out of the back of his head, so that means the axe must've been bent into a 90 degree angle and then carefully rammed down his throat. What makes this even funnier is that later in the movie people actually comment on it and are equally confused. The movie is full of moments where you think you know where it is going, but then it takes a really funny twist. In one tense moment we there is a teenager in a house who could literally die in about 10 different ways when you look at his surroundings. You are constantly wondering "Okay, which object is going to kill him" and then... something entirely different kills him while heavy metal music is playing. While this movie is completely stupid, it is a movie that is having a great time with being stupid. The movie has some horrible cuts and camera angles, yet the way the movie emphasizes on these cuts makes it rather obvious that the movie intentionally trying to make lame cuts and overly dramatic camera angles that are embarrassingSome movies are so bad that they are good; however, some movies are cleverly bad and actually work. Jack Frost is still a bad movie, but it is entertaining and the solution on how to kill Jack Frost was brilliant. Throughout the movie there is an object that seems to remain in the plot, so it is obvious that it will be important, but we don't know why it will be important. Once this object plays its role, it is hilarious because it does so in a way you would've never expected.
... View MoreI remember watching this movie when I was around six and it scared the crap out of me, now looking back as an older person I wonder why I was afraid of this film. Well basically what this so called horror movie is about is a Serial killer escapes death when his execution van crosses paths with a truck containing voitile chemicals and becomes a nasty mutant snowman. He then rampages through a small town, murdering innocent people until he gets the cop responsible for putting him behind bars. The acting is terrible, the storyline is cheesy, and the things they fight him off with are stupid. I wasn't familiar with the cast except for Shannon Elisabeth, and I found out this was her film debut, but couldn't she have been in a much better movie? Not only that she gets raped by the snowman that had to be the most disturbing scene I've ever seen in a movie.Do I recommend this movie? well if you enjoy bad acting, cheesy stoylines, horrible special effects then by all means watch it.
