Some things I liked some I did not.

There are moments that feel comical, some horrific, and some downright inspiring but the tonal shifts hardly matter as the end results come to a film that's perfect for this time.

Mostly, the movie is committed to the value of a good time.

The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.

This sequel is a CGI fun filled Hollywood Blockbuster. If you love movies with special effects, how could you not love this film?! Most alien movies are rubbish, but there are a few here and there that are worth watching. Independence Day: Resurgence has good performances, a decent movie plot, and impressive CGI & VFX, what's not to like?! If you want to compare this one to the original then you will not be able to enjoy this sequel. The special effects in Resurgence are much more advanced than the 90s one. 95% of the cast in this sequel are not in the original film, many hardcore fans of the first flick are upset about that, but sometimes it is better to have a mostly brand new cast especially when a sequel is made 20 years after the first one. The only things that are wrong with this sequel is the swearing and that guy with the long hair (Dr. Brakish Okun) and his friend, they didn't need to bring them back, they were barely in this movie and they were not really relevant to this new story.

2/10Hey Chinese company, if you want to push your products buy commercials on TV like everyone else. As for these amateur-hour Chinese actors they keep putting in movies because the studio is now Chinese owned or Disney is trying to market its vomit in China please go stuff it. I am not interested.*I do have to admit watching thin long-haired Chinese actresses beats seeing Amy Schumer or Melissa McCarthy or Queen Latifah though. Just keeping it real.

It's an entertaining film but my god what bad acting and writing. It's like watching a Saturday morning cartoon with real people. So many childish lines by the actors, but again if you like just having something on in the background while having sex it's ok.

It was so much fun. My son, 10 at the time of viewing this spectacle, ate up this movie and it's first film. His eyes watching it reminded me of being his age enjoying Star Wars. He gets this movie, Star Wars I can not convert him. I know perhaps I'm a failure there.However, this is a sci-fi fun. There's no real darkness. It's light and fun. I'm a fan man, way to old to be a fan boy. It's space ships, aliens and ridiculous action fun. Will you walk out of this film and cure cancer? No. Will you have fun? Yes.
