SERIOUSLY. This is what the crap Hollywood still puts out?

The movie's not perfect, but it sticks the landing of its message. It was engaging - thrilling at times - and I personally thought it was a great time.

While it is a pity that the story wasn't told with more visual finesse, this is trivial compared to our real-world problems. It takes a good movie to put that into perspective.

Very good movie overall, highly recommended. Most of the negative reviews don't have any merit and are all pollitically based. Give this movie a chance at least, and it might give you a different perspective.

The thing about this film is the characters real ages.Marika Rokk is suppose to play Ilonka an entertainer of a supper club.She's suppose to be ,now, the ex girl friend of Peter Alexander character Ulrich,who is retiring form show biz.But she's old enough to be his mother,in real life.Waltraut Haus plays Regina.Her father,Otto, is played by Fred Liewehr, who is now a lot older a heavy. in real life would be her Uncle more than her father.Now Gunther Philip. who plays Felix the Impresario,his role matches good.Well maybe a June ad January romance is not bad.If this doesn't bother you .It kind of bother me a bit,then you will enjoy this musical from Germany or Vienna.Marika Rokk was at her strength, at the time.Over coming the third Reich and really hitting her stride.Miss Haus started after the war.Her first film feature bomb in the unites states.The cinematography of Venice is exquisite .For the first time Hubert Von Meyerink,now sporting the Yul Brynner hair, now work with Marika Rokk as the second love interest,that she uses.Rudolph Carl,who also worked in a Marika film,Germany's first color feature.He is now hotel clerk, for the paradise.The plot Well peter want to go back to his doctoring profession.He is engaged to Waltraut.Marika is jealous, and wants to break it up.Well Peter and Wallie get married any how.They take their honeymoon in Venice,Wallie refuses to sleep with peter yet because of his involvement with Marika .This is more adult fare for Peter,who was the pat Boon and Dean Jones of Austria ,he never played a rotten character.Real actors do.This points it drives Peter to get drunk with alcoholic hotel clerk.The Kesseler twins show up with their new husbands too,but peter manages to dance and sing with one of them.After a lot Schtick,Peter gives Marika the worst spanking she could ever have in her like.Waltraut forgives Peter ,but , they no have to wait to get home before they have sex .Marika ends up with Hubert.Funny comedy musical,in spite of age differences,02/02/13
