It's no definitive masterpiece but it's damn close.

The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.

Heading into this movie knowing this might be my first review on a movie on IMDB I was a bit hesitant but nevertheless brave to press on. I've watched and seen some work from two of said actors Justin Chon and David So.As the character started to develop through the movie I slowly began to admire the flaws and the fine script craftsmanship every character started to build-up and let me tell you quote"That's why your father and I came to America for a better life," who would have thought, would actually very much touched me. I would have thought Chon would lose his composure under those stressful scenes, kept under control which were also great to watch. Speaking of scenes, the reason I gave such a decent rating was because the the superb balance of laughter, relatability, and a touch of humor the movie possessed. In a way I actually didn't want this movie to be categorized as a high budget film because of the indie charm it had to it, hence why I adored the film so much. With a premise to display something to nothing and to something again is heart warming. A fearless attitude and excellent choice of sound score, it definitely blew my mind how the world is revolving.

This is a beautiful movie, filled with raw emotion. Everything about it was great: the story of two different families and how they clashed, the historical importance and how it affected them, the directing, the acting---everything. It was very artistic and maybe even experimental but the delivery was perfect. I laughed, I cried, I was excited and heartbroken. In the end, there is a powerful message.

Suffering and misery is so intense and present throughout the film that it chokes you up. And it intensifies with every minute to eventually climax in a heartbreaking final. Well done. This touched me deeply.

Justin Chon amazing stuff man. David So amazing actor hope to see a lot more of you guys. Brilliant movie about a turbulent time, you have brought to light the Korean shop owner plight during that period. I don't understand the critics who are willing to drop below nine out of ten, possibly never watched the same film!! Well done arguably the best film of 2017.. thank you
