... View MoreSimple and well acted, it has tension enough to knot the stomach.
... View MoreBlending excellent reporting and strong storytelling, this is a disturbing film truly stranger than fiction
... View MoreA film of deceptively outspoken contemporary relevance, this is cinema at its most alert, alarming and alive.
... View MoreAfter arriving at a carnival and finding them to be potential targets of their con game, a group of friends learn the group of freaks has deadly intentions whenever they're double-crossed and try to get out before they all fall victim. This one wasn't really all that memorable, as there's a few problems here. A lot of the main flaws are because it's a cheapo-feeling remake of the original, complete with the same situations, twist and overall feel that it featured, though the results vary slightly in their outcome here. Simply adding a more modern-feeling approach to how they arrive at the circus and their interactions with the group are pretty much the only minor additions to the storyline here to switch this up, but beyond that there's way too much of this feeling like the original to really stand-out all that much. As well, the fact that this familiar set-up takes as long as it does manages to hold off the film's antics to the point that it waits until the end to do anything new by running through the storyline aspects here which instead results in plenty of time simply running around with the freaks before that finale, though that in itself is really just a play on the original outcome. It's really hard to stay interested in what goes on since it's not really doing anything new or really doing anything that makes it interesting when it's going about itself as unless you're put off on the performers just their being odd-looking which gets old really fast, and really sets up the films' best parts. The ending is really where it gets all that back with some good kills, plenty of chilling stalking around the carnival setting which is really utilized to perfection at really getting some creepy moments in here and a fairly good use of gore in the graphic kills throughout here. Along with the make-up done here that's combined nicely with the real-live freaks for more good stuff, what helps here is that the initial cause of the retribution here is so justified it pumps up the action more by really taking it all out into a great series of scenes that sell this nicely for the film. Added with the great nudity on display, it's enough to make it watchable but just feels a little too late though.Rated R: Graphic Language, Graphic Violence and Nudity

When a group of five outsiders join the circus to work in security, they actually are criminals that intend to steal one week ticket sales. However, the greedy and sexy slut Lucy (Rebekah Kochan) finds that Lon owns a fortune and convinces her partners that she could seduce Lon, get married with him and later kill him to become the heir of his fortune. When the youngest freak is murdered by the gang, the side-show performers seek revenge and join forces to hunt each criminal. Then they capture Lucy and transform her into the next attraction of the show, the Worm Woman. The violent and graphic "Freakshow" uses the same storyline of Tod Browning's "Freaks" (1932) and is a good remake of the classic, with a modification of the plot and characters. The make-up is excellent and the production is also very careful with the music score. This movie is absolutely underrated in IMDb, maybe because the voters are influenced by the negative propaganda that was written about this film or maybe by the inhuman and extremely graphic conclusion. Anyway, I believe that real fans of harsh slashers will like this horror movie. My vote is seven.Title (Brazil): "Freakshow O Circo dos Horrores" ("Freakshow The Horror Circus")
... View MoreThis movie is awful. The plot is shallow and underdeveloped and the "horror" is just useless violence. The costumes of the "freaks" are obvious and not made well. There was random information thrown in that led to nowhere. The movie was utter crap. My friends and I feel like we wasted and hour and a half of our lives watching this "movie" don't waste your time. Below are some choice words describing this movie. Nonsense, Pointless, Unnecessary. Reading the cover of this movie is even wasting time. Milking a cow would be more entertaining. The producer of this movie should be shot on the spot for even thinking about this piece of trash. If you want some slasher movie just watch Saw.
... View MoreThis isn't so much a comment as it is a warning. I've been watching horror movies since I was able to watch movies. I have them on tapes and dvds, I was originally going to school for forensic science (all this info is to explain that I DO have the stomach, strength, etc to watch horror movies/gore/etc). This movie sent me to therapy. Seriously. It effected me in such a way that I still can't sleep (it's now exactly one week after I rented this movie). I'm anxious, nervous, and the day after I watched this movie I had a panic attack and had to schedule an emergency appointment to speak with a psychiatrist. The last ten minutes of this movie are THE most disturbing ten minutes I have ever seen in absolutely any form (film, photography, written word, etc.) Just typing about it and making me think about it is making me start to get anxious.Oddly enough everyone I watched it with was totally unaffected by it. My boyfriend doesn't understand why he has to stay awake with me every night. But for some reason, the last scene hit me in a way no movie, no book, no image has ever effected me before. Not hostel, or the hills have eyes, or house of 1000 corpses, or Texas chainsaw massacre, or any other horror flick involving torture/gore/disturbing images.Maybe I'm the only one, but I can understand why it was banned.
