Very Cool!!!

... View MoreFour Brothers is all about thugs to be perfectly honest. If you like gangster movies then I guess you'll like this okay, personally I was really annoyed with it a lot of times. I like movies where I can really pull for the protagonist and where I don't feel badly towards them, and I really couldn't do that in this movie, I mean yes there were many times where I felt horrible for them and I wanted them to win, but at the same time they were jerks a lot of the time and all the locker room tough guy junk got on my nerves and it got really old after a while. The casting was good for the kind of rolls these men played, especially Mark Wahlberg since he really was a thug in real life and plays characters with that kind of attitude many times. The acting isn't really bad it's certainly not great by any means, but i wouldn't say it's poor, my thing was just that the male characters annoyed me with their crap a lot throughout the film. There are a few touching moments about them trying to find their mothers killer and there are some memories of their mother that are nice to see, but those times come pretty far and few in between. I got bored with the film sometimes and wanted it to move along. Overall I don't really suggest this film, there are better ones that are more worthy of your time. 5/10.
... View MoreDid they ever reveal why the mother was killed? They kept saying it was a hit, but I don't think they ever said why someone put a hit on her. Also, her death totally did not look like a hit. It looked like two guys came in to rob a convenience store and she was shot because she was there and was a witness. It seemed like the two robbers didn't know she was actually in the store until she gasped after seeing them shoot the clerk. I don't want to go back and watch the movie again to find out because it was not a movie that I would go back and re-watch. I thought the movie was good until I realized that the plot did not make a whole lot of sense. Maybe they did reveal why there was a hit on her, but to me, the movie did not make it clear enough. Probably would not have paid much attention to the movie, while watching it, if not for Mark Wahlberg and Andre 3000.
... View MoreThis is a great modern twist on the John Wayne and Dean Martin classic - "The Sons of Katie Elder." Loved Mark Wahlberg's update of John Wayne's character, Outcast's Andre 3000 is great with his take on Dean Martin's character, and Garret Hedlund's take on Michael Anderson Jr's original is simply masterful. The teasing of Jack Mercer is a dead ringer to that of Bud Elder. The direction is outstanding and it is almost exactly identical of Henry Hathaway's where he just let the actors "do what they do" and the dialogue will just developed naturally. I absolutely recommend seeing this movie as well as "The Sons of Katie Elder."
... View MoreThe plot is very slow after the initial murder of Evelyn Mercer and this may have put many off. It does, however pick up towards the middle third and by the end it has reached full throttle. The gritty realism of the story is enhanced by the winter scenes on the streets of Detroit. I can't say I was overly enthused by the choice of music throughout, but then it's not really my scene man. The performances were all excellent with Mark Wahlberg and Tyrese Gibson taking most of the spotlight, but I thought nobody put a foot wrong throughout. Over all a gritty realistic and sometimes brutal revenge thriller. Maybe a little too slow for some in the beginning but the pace does pick up (I promise).SteelMonster's verdict: RECOMMENDEDMy score: 7.2/10You can find an expanded version of this review on my blog: Thoughts of a SteelMonster.
