She is helped by Jyoji and discovers that the criminals use the vaginae of women from a gang of female thieves to smuggle drugs to the Clan Ogi led by the Yakuza Goda (Tatsuo Endô). Further, Goda had killed the former lord and abducted his teenage daughter. Ochô plots a scheme with Jyoji and the female thieves to revenge the torture and abuse of Goda and his men. "Yasagure anego den: sôkatsu rinchi" is a messy Japanese exploitation, with a confused screenplay and development of characters and probably lost in translation to Portuguese. My vote is three.Title (Brazil): "A Mulher da Yakuza" ("The Woman from the Yakuza")
... View MoreAfter I watched Noribumi Suzuki's visually captivating, violence-packed and sex-charged revenge exploitation film - Sex And Fury (1973) – my expectations towards its' sequel "Female Yakuza Tale" were naturally high. Unfortunately, it proves to be a considerably weaker effort compared to its' predecessor. The mesmerizing Reiko Ike is back as Ocho – the beautiful and skilled sword-waving gambler, who, after having avenged her father's death in the first movie, is now facing a new threat – a drug trafficking ring, which has a rather unconventional way of smuggling drugs (using women's private parts as a hiding place for the drugs!). Reiko's character seems quite indestructible in this sequel which becomes evident in the fight scenes, not getting even a single bruisе (there is however a scene where she is being tortured, but only after being tricked and drugged by her enemies). The opening sequence with Reiko fighting in the open under pouring rain against countless villains after having lost all her clothes is a treat to the eyes – beautifully shot and lit and with stunning choreography and sword-play – here the director of the sequel Teruo Ishii is staying close to Suzuki's original vision and this opening scene is like an echo of the unforgettable action episode in "Sex And Fury" where Reiko is forced to defend herself again totally in the nude, after being attacked while taking a bath. But further on, Ishii kind of abandons this style in favor of showing more nudity and sleaze, and presents a story with some ridiculous subplots and quite a few faceless and weak new characters, opposed to the first movie's more simplified and one-dimensional storyline (yes, it too had some subplots involved, like the girl-spy's love story, but I think they weren't distracting at all) and its' memorable rich characters (just compare the villains from the 2 parts to see what I mean). It's like Ishii wanted to push the limits of sex and violence even more, but in the final battle scene the effect is rather exaggerated and comic – grenades are flying, guns are blazing, swords are drawn, faces are ripped apart, there is even an episode where a girl is urinating on a corpse of a man, after the groin of said corpse has been crushed by another girl (we don't see it that clearly, but do we really need to ?) so, the violently chaotic ending proves to be hilariously anti-climactic, not to mention the main villain is killed off by Reiko so easily, fast and effortless, that it makes the whole concept of having this character in the movie pointless. That being said, the film still has its' moments, like other reviewers already mentioned, and can be amusing to watch for its sheer amount of sleaze, some quite funny and memorable lines and laugh-out-loud episodes (the scene with the guards in the mental hospital, anyone?) And once again - the captivating opening fight-scene and Reiko Ike are enough reasons to disregard the obvious shortcomings of "Female Yakuza Tale" and enjoy it fully as it is – a silly light-minded and cheap exploitative action thriller with buckets of blood and tons of nudity. That's how we like it after all, isn't it ?
... View MoreThe vagina gets stuffed and gouged at regular intervals throughout Female Yakuza Tale. But it's not just about vagina's it's also about boobs. Japanese men are continually seen fondling and suckling at the female teet. Director Teruo Ishii uses every possible opportunity to show female nudity he can, even throwing some in while the opening credits are running. Ochô is shown taking on several men in a downpour and she loses pieces of her clothing eventually fighting completely naked. There is considerably more nudity and sexuality than violence in this film, at least up to the final outrageous battle. In the end, the women do get a gratifying revenge. Ochô is a great character, she is strong and confident and even when she is naked and bound she is uttering threats. We spend time getting to know some of the secondary players as Ochô crosses their paths which made for some entertaining sub-plots. My major complaint about the film is its sleazy premise is lightened considerably by slapstick comedy that sometimes fell flat. The gags were pretty PG for a film that was otherwise rated R. I won't deny there were a few moments that cracked me up. Most notably when a character THROWS a bullet into another characters eye! I really think the film would have benefited from a little less cheesy humour. Female Yakuza Tale has some wildly perverse and even disturbing moments despite the humour that give the film some exploitative bite. Visually, the film is very watchable. Its colourful and cheery sets and strangely buoyant music add a twisted flair that gave the film a unique vibe.Of course it all comes down to those nasty Yakuza! Among the criminal underworld there is double-crossing and dirty dealings and it all centers around the new boss of the Ogi Clan. We learn through a flashback that Ochô feels a debt of gratitude to the old boss for saving her when she was very young from losing fingers. After Ochô is caught cheating while gambling, he allows his own finger to be severed instead. The bad ass that did the severing is coming to see the new boss to collect on a gambling debt. Ochô challenges him to a game of cards to erase the debt and to do some finger collecting of her own. Besides his drug interests and gambling problems the new boss of the Ogi Clan has been hiding the old boss' young daughter in a mental asylum. You'll have to see for yourself how this all unfolds! I'll tell you only this, it features what I can only guess is a mentally disturbed Kabuke theatre troop. Fighting naked would have some advantages. Regular street clothes wouldn't do much to protect you from a weapon anyway, why not distract your opponent with nudity?! The final battle set in a warehouse features a group of Yakuza about to battle amongst themselves only to find an army of women have collected on the upper floor with their own agenda. The women remove their clothing one by one and soon we have a whole lot of naked women killing the hell out of a bunch of Yakuza in an outrageous and bloody spectacle! It really must be seen to be appreciated. Its awkward mix of sleaze and humour doesn't always work but a strong lead and enough bizarre and memorable moments make Female Yakuza Tale: Inquisition and Torture a trip worth taking. Recommended.
... View MoreI've really been getting into these pinky flicks recently, and The Female Yakuza Tale is another good example of the genre! The film is highly convoluted and features a number of plot elements, all of which are nasty and sleazy. The film does get difficult to keep up with on more than just a couple of occasions, but since most of what's happening is fun to watch, it's usually easier to just go along with it. The film is only short at about eighty five minutes and that's quite surprising - considering how many ideas there are here, I would have expected it to go on for longer. The plot focuses on Ochô Inoshika, a pick-pocketer and master swordswoman who finds herself kidnapped by drug cartels. After being humiliated by them, she vows vengeance. It turns out that this particular gang are using drug addicted girls to smuggle drugs in their vaginas and some of these girls have become victims in a series of murders going under the title of "Crotch-Gouge". Throw in some bloke helping the leading lady and a mysterious female assassin and you've got one confusing movie! The thing that really makes these films great is undoubtedly the style of them and The Female Yakuza Tale doesn't disappoint in that respect as the entire film is very beautifully shot and director Teruo Ishii manages to create several potent and memorable scenes. The colours are dazzling too, and the fight scenes interesting and well choreographed. I can't say I have great experience with this type of film, but this one is not overly violent by my standards (and probably not by genre standards). There are a few good fight sequences and torture sequences, though nothing overly shocking. There is a real focus on sleaze, however; the way that the drugs gang treats its girls is a particular highlight in this respect. The film has a sort of chaotic feel to it in a way and it often feels like certain things are happening for no apparent reason - a scene towards the end that sees a bunch of girls strip off in unison feels rather random. Overall, however, this is a very well made and interesting film that is well worth seeing for fans of this stuff and I definitely recommend it.
