Donkey Punch Trailers

Three hot girls, four guys, and one mega-swanky yacht collide for a serious night of drugs and sexual deviancy. One debaucherous act goes too far though, turning this teen joy ride into a weekend of bloody bedlam.

It is a performances centric movie

The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful

It really made me laugh, but for some moments I was tearing up because I could relate so much.

An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.

I'm not sure exactly why this is so bad - maybe because there are so many things wrong.Acting was fair. Most characters were annoying and one dimensional. Most people will watch it for the "punch' but it is slow leading up to it and slow afterward. I was relieved to see some of them die.Technically - portions of the movie were so black that you could not see what was happening and this was is places where it lent nothing to the script or movie to do so.Clichés - Many with no twist. Because nothing ever goes wrong when a bunch of kids go party with strangers on a boat...Joke is on the viewer - real person who got punched.

A group of young people go to a trip in a boat and many of them are going to die. At first sight we might think it's gonna be a predictable and corny thriller, but this one is an exception to this rule. The story is very plausible and sometimes it reminds me of "House of 9"-- a great picture. I don't know how, but the filmmakers managed this film so well that you get extremely entertained in the drama. Oh, and I have to mention that this movie, in my opinion, is much more a drama than a thriller; be ready to watch a sad story. The actors are believable even thought they are unknown and working for a small company-- they act better than many mainstream actors. My only (and big) complaint is the unnecessary exposed sex scene, which didn't need to be that hot or real. It gets embarrassing to watch such movie with your parents in a room right in front of yours-- isn't my case. IMDb's rating for this title is UNDERRATED and should be fixed as soon as possible, otherwise it's going to unfairly put it in the same list as the other horrible films out there.

I came across this film while randomly looking over IMDb and was intrigued by it (not by the title, I had no idea what a donkey punch was before watching). I thought it was pretty good and entertaining. In my opinion, I thought the players did a good job with their characters, particularly the lead actress. I thought the gentleman who played Josh was also very deft. I enjoyed his portrayal of the seemingly-naive law student who ends up executing the most damage and using his knowledge of the legal system (maritime law is really awesome) to create fear and tension among the rest of the group. Generally, I thought the switch the characters made between sanity and crazy was compelling and interesting. I was a little disappointed with the gore, as I was hoping for a lot more. In my humble opinion, I wouldn't call it a slasher flick, no categorize it as horror. It was really a thriller and nothing more. The killings were not really all that ingenious or clever in my mind, only one, maybe two, made my eyebrows rise.Other reviewers have made negative comments about the setting, but I thought the luxury yacht was really wonderful. No doubt, it's most likely been over-used, but killing is so much more exciting and cool when it's executed on a fancy boat, don't you think? The maritime setting also added the great, claustrophobic element to the story. In all honesty, I thought the boat and the Mediterranean combined to make a great setting because it fought against the later-ensuing madness. Things were just lovely and marvelous on this fancy boat in the middle of the world's most beautiful body of water, good booze, sex with hot people, good drugs (if you like that sort of thing), gorgeous weather . . . and then all of a sudden it's the complete opposite. I liked how the desirable turned into the unwanted. I thought the sexual content was actually quite well placed and appropriate. For sure, it is pretty explicit (whoever said it was tame is probably addicted to porn), but to me it didn't feel gratuitous or out of place, i.e. meant to get heterosexual males in the theater seats. It really brought out the nasty, hedonistic feel the story needed. I think it also was an appropriate way to introduce the turning point in the film, as the nudity and sexual activity introduced a vulnerability to the characters that made the shocking act seem all the more bizarre and horrific. Plus, the sex scenes were pretty hot. One last item I would note is the apt use of instrumental underscore. I think this was one film that made excellent use of music. The instrumental scores well fit the action and matched the mood precisely. For whatever reason, that really made my viewing experience much greater. I also thought the lighting and cinematography was pretty decent for such a low budget film. Overall, I liked it. I thought the acting was above average, the setting compelling, and the story worth one's time. I would recommend it, but you probably will be fine with one viewing.

STAR RATING: ***** Saturday Night **** Friday Night *** Friday Morning ** Sunday Night * Monday Morning The vast majority of reviews on this site haven't spoken that favourably of Donkey Punch, one in a line of latest Brit horror flicks high on the gore/shock factor. The negative comments stem from the apparently gratuitous violence/sex/language and the unappealing portrayal of modern British teens. All of which have a point, but then people seem to regard the acting and story as pretty poor as well. It's certainly not a film for those with faint hearts or weak stomachs, but the actual set up is genuinely suspenseful and tense, with an eerie silence and brooding atmosphere looming over the beautiful Meditteranian sea and the enclosed confines of the luxury ship. As the film wears on, and the situation gets more intense and desperate, it gathers the air of the 1988 thriller Dead Calm, with the set up being so similar. I can't speak for the other girls, but Jaime Winstone does a decent enough Yorkshire accent, only occasionally lapsing back into her native cockney. If you enjoyed stuff like Eden Lake, this should provide quite a lot of thrills and excitement. ****
