Doctor Who: Twice Upon a Time Trailers

As the Twelfth Doctor nears regeneration, he stumbles on his first incarnation, also refusing to change. It takes a captain, a glass avatar and a familiar face to convince the Doctors the universe still needs them.

Watch something else. There are very few redeeming qualities to this film.

It is interesting even when nothing much happens, which is for most of its 3-hour running time. Read full review

REVIEW: While I don't think that the characterization of the 1st Doctor as sexist was a very good idea, it wasn't too bothersome. Capaldi was great and is the best actor to ever play the Doctor (his performances in Heaven Sent, The Doctor Falls, and the Zygon Inversion are nothing short of BAFTA worthy), Pearl Mackie gave a wonderful, emotional performance, and Mark Gatiss was very good too. I thought the ending speech was contrived. Capaldi's farewell to Nardole and Bill was much better. The direction was good, as was the score, and I really liked the Testimony. I give Twice Upon a Time an 8.5 out of 10.----------------------To those unsure about a female Doctor, From someone who was against the idea before. I think it could really help the show's ratings and make it feel exciting and fresh again. As for who the next Doctor is, Jodie Whittaker was good in Broadchurch and great in ADULT LIFE SKILLS- but she's just incredible in JOURNEYMAN. If you are unsure about her as the Doctor, please go watch it. She gives a masterclass in acting without ever looking like she's trying. Her performance is one of the best I've seen all year. I'm sure she will be a wonderful Doctor.

Christmas Special between 10th and 11th season of renewed Doctor Who returns to the roots, not only by appearance of first Doctor, but also by catching spirit of old black and white Doctor Who from half of last century. Fans of complete franchise will be pleased with nostalgic atmosphere of this episode, but those who follow this show since 2005. might be disappointed by lack of action and special effects. Personally, I like both series, but I prefer new one and, although I felt charm of the old Doctor in this episode, I was also a little bit bored. Still, quality of Moffat's and Capaldi's valedictory episode is undeniable. Capaldi was truly great Doctor and I miss him already, and David Bradley must be acknowledged for the very convincing imitation of the original Doctor.7/10

Moffat can't direct. That's obvious proven by his many years in Dr Who, Jekyll and Sherlock. He's just incompetent when it comes to showrunning, characterdevelopment, internal consistencies, or sufficiently presenting the otherwise great ideas popping into his head. So much so actualy, I don't believe he led Season 10 anything other but by name. And while some of the estatics are cool here too, there is bad editing (there really was no need to repeat minutes by POV), and non-event storyparts (the soldier) as we got used from Moffat all during his era. And that's only the start of it.My main compaint is: what happened with my beloved First Doctor? He might have been grumpy, but what he never was was sexist (against women), racist (against french), or dismissing (against "younger ones"). And certainly wasn't an alcoholic! In the light of the representation of the First Doctor - obviously an impostor, NOT the real Doctor - the Doctor turns into a Social Justice Warrior. And he isn't even ginger, or make any remark of it. But is still english, white, and heterosexual (proven by the falling engagement-ring, the abandonement of Bill etc.).So if you ask me, this episode didn't happen. Just like Season 5-9. Either way it was meaningless, not just given we know the next "doctor" is casted, but because two other incarnations we know from the Doctor's future: The Valeyard, and the Curator. Until those appear, the Doctor is safe. Well, not from the hands of incompetent writer/director/showrunners of course.

Last years Christmas special was one of the worst episodes of Doctor Who that ever happened, it made me fall out of love with the show. The Capaldi seasons had a few ups and many downs, even though Peter is an incredible doctor, the show was plagued with problems such as bad writing. With all of that said, this was an absolutely beautiful and magical send off. By far one of the best, emotional and meaningful Christmas Specials that have ever been made. I was worried that the episode would pull the gimmicky two doctors plot but they managed to perfectly reason it, creating an incredible episode. I think "Twice Upon a Time" captures the best of the Doctor who essence. It's a worthy goodbye to the Twelfth Doctor, Bill, and Steven Moffat as show runner. The show is worth returning to on this high note.Prepare to love it and cry a lot.I am now once again excited to see the future of Doctor Who, with a new doctor and show runner I'm sure we will see exciting changes and a new direction.Merry Christmas and long live the Doctor!
