Self-important, over-dramatic, uninspired.

a film so unique, intoxicating and bizarre that it not only demands another viewing, but is also forgivable as a satirical comedy where the jokes eventually take the back seat.

Mostly, the movie is committed to the value of a good time.

This is an almost 80-year-old short film featuring The Three Stooges. It is in black-and-white, which is not a given anymore in 1936, and runs for roughly 16 minutes just like pretty much all their short films do. "Disorder in the Court" is possibly the most famous Stooges film, also because it features the 3 most liked Stooges (no offense to Shemp, I like him): Larry, Curly and Moe, the two latter ones being brothers. Still I have to say that this one here does not even come close to being my favorite from the very very long Stooges filmography. Not even close. The director here is Jack White and he worked a lot with the Stooges just like writer Felix Adler. The trio are witnesses in a murder trial at court and it all becomes very chaotic the moment the enter the courtroom and Curly takes the stand. There is lots of slapstick in here, many jokes on word-plays and also some violence here and there, actually a lot given we see people constantly poked in the eyes, hit with hammers and even shot on one occasions. But it's all harmless and nobody ever gets hurt in these Stooges movies. I personally did not find the humor too brilliant in this one here and that's why I cannot recommend it. Maybe I will review further Stooges films in the future. Keep an eye out for those that I prefer over "Disorder in the Court".

9 out of 10 for this masterpiece. The acting, the drama, the musical score, all elements of this fine film add up to the best courtroom movie ever made. The Brothers Howard and their accomplice, Larry Fine (who, incidentally, has probably got the best hair in Hollywood), find themselves key witnesses in a murder trial. Who better to focus a life-and-death drama on than The Three Stooges?! The boys are terrific in this one. Their timing is impeccable and they are clearly at the top of their game. From the initial slap delivered by Moe while playing jax outside the courtroom, to the magnificent, aesthetically perfect manner in which Curly falls over the divider and lands on his face when attempting to enter the courtroom, every aspect of their performance is peerless. The best part of the film, and indeed one of the most emotionally charged moments ever filmed in Hollywood, is the scene where Larry lets off a primal scream after doing battle with a piece of bubble gum. The footage gets a little jumpy before he stands up, indicating perhaps there was some editing gone wrong there or -- and why not? -- someone simply threw away a few frames. Either way, neither the audience nor anyone else has any idea why Larry stands and starts screaming, but the end result had me in pieces on the floor, laughing so hard I teared up and turned red.I am imposing a 1 point penalty for the dance number in the film, as I feel it does not do nearly as much as the straight dialogue parts in advancing the plot (whatever...) and it also is not as funny as the rest of the film. Still, this is a truly excellent film and I strongly advise anyone with cracked ribs to avoid it at all costs, as the laughter will literally kill you.

During the 1930's, there were a fair number of soap opera type films released that take place in courtroom dramas. "Potboilers" is the actual term for such a movie. Obviously, and this was done all the time with the Stooges, this is a takeoff on such a type of movie. I can just see Lionel Barrymore cross examining a witness that's vital to proving his client innocent and BOOM! Here's the Stooges popping in with all their mayhem and anarchy. Example: after removing some chewing gum from Moe's nose, Larry throws it on the floor, stomps on it and starts screaming, "Ahooo! Ahhhhooo!" Moe replies,"You're not in the woods, Tarzan!" *SLAP* And it just keeps going all through this nice little short. A toupee is taken by the boys for a tarantula and Moe grabs the baliff's gun and plugs it five times. More and more and more! You'll have to watch this one more than once so you won't miss any of the fast paced antics.

If you don't think that this is one of the funniest stooge short ever then you are not a true Three Stooges fan. You would be just like that idiot Chowerhead fellow if you thought that. He is some pathetic loser coming on here and sounding off like an idiot. The scenes where the one guy in the court room keeps getting his toupee destroyed and shot at after Larry said look a Tarantula. The other scene that was funny was when the parrot was let out of the cage and chaos spread in the court room after everyone got soaked. So to anyone that wants to post a comment on IMDB about these legendary actors please do it with respect and not act like an idiot.
