This is a must-see and one of the best documentaries - and films - of this year.

Excellent characters with emotional depth. My wife, daughter and granddaughter all enjoyed it...and me, too! Very good movie! You won't be disappointed.

Coming from someone who loves Cube, I feel confident in saying that Hypercube managed to take everything good about the original and toss it out the window. The first thing that really upset me about Hypercube is it's uninteresting characters. Its very clear that the movie tried to imitate some of the characters from the original, but I never felt attached to any of the characters at all, and it didn't matter to me if any of them lived or died, unlike in the original Cube where the viewer is able to see characters change and develop. The argument could be made that there was a real lack of story to the original Cube, but all the unanswered questions that it left were what made it so memorable. That would be reason enough not to make a sequel, but they went ahead to put in a very generic and uninteresting story. The only good thing I can really say about Hypercube is that it tried to something new and different. In that respect, I think it would have been a lot better as a standalone movie since it wouldn't need to follow any rules set by the original film.

Again, more money and a bigger cast will not necessarily save the initially poor film from fall into an endless abyss of boredom and trite clichés. This is exactly what happened to Cube 2 - a dismal flop on all levels - unbelievably poor acting, excruciatingly slow pace, long dialogues, awful CGI effects, terribly predictable plot, shallow characters, slick value and lots of funny goofs. More cash inflow made this otherwise funny little flick a pretentious mess of larger proportions and sillier lines. At the very beginning one could have thought that was a rather promising start when we saw that elderly man with a case, but then, all fell tumbling over and got into a high;y boring inedible mash of silly steps, repeated ideas and vapid jokes. What is again very vivid here and in fact livid - we feel no empathy with a single member of the hapless team. They all lack depth and quickly fade into murky pale unimportant. A forgettable poorly executed flick

I watched the first movie - Cube yesterday I really enjoyed it. I did not write a review for that one but I did rate it eight stars! The follow up - Hypercube is really bad. It is awfully boring and so uninspired! The story is similar to the first part and even the number of people and even their roles: one bad guy / a killer, one blond woman who knows it all, one handicapped person in some way ... but the first one actually was quite good and the story and all was interesting. Here, nothing is good. While watching it, I was thinking to myself several times when it will end! The acting was mediocre. The effects were kinda too plastic / amateur looking. The ending of the film was puzzling ( though I guess it gives a way to the third part) and somewhat unnecessary.I am really not sure if there is one really good point about this movie. Maybe I am still influenced by the first one, so I am giving this one 4. It may deserve less.

This movie begins with some awful, vague, confusing cross cutting, in a style I absolutely hate, luckily it pretty quickly moves on to inside the cube. That's what we wanna see, right? Yeah. So, a bunch of strangers wake up inside a strange cube, and, mystery, drama and horror(kind of) follows. It's not super entertaining, but there's some cool stuff here. The effects are not exactly top notch, for the most part they look like something you could pretty easily do with a normal computer and After effects today. Yeah, they are pretty bad. With less cheap special effects, a little more consistent writing, and tighter direction, this could have been pretty good though. Well, better. The way I see it, this movie removes some of the mystery with the original Cube, which is a little bit of a shame. Couple of continuity errors regarding shaving, that slightly annoyed me, haha, but I don't really care that much about that stuff, but I wanted to mention it anyway. So yeah, if you're a huge fan of the original cube you might like this, or you might hate it. The original is way, way, way, better. That one is pretty awesome, this is not.
