... View MoreThis is a well directed film that is worth a watch. It also gives a glimpse into the life in Dubai for those who would be interested in that.Playboy doctor Arun lives a lavish life on credit in Dubai, not regretting the past and no worrying about his future, until a time when he realizes that his style of living has cause problems for him and others, and he has to make his way out of them. The reason for title of this film is evident only after half the film is done. The film talks about Pre Marital issues, explores the benefits of Positive thinking despite varying problems, the value of relationships in times of trouble, how a person's conscience can lead to difficulty in making decisions. It has pretty melodious songs. The film is however too lengthy, and you need to have the patience to sit through it for over 2 and a half hours to enjoy it. All actors have played their respective roles well, and the depiction of Dubai is really natural.Go for it
... View MoreLal Jose and Iqbal Kuttipuram has teamed up again to create a masterpiece. This is so far the best movie by the duo. Kuttipuram has been able to see the lifestyle of the ambitious youngsters who get blinded by the money they earn at a very young age. The movie is a depiction of the life of a doctor working in Dubai living the "good life". "No regrets about the past No worries about the future just living in the present" attitude which all flips when banks refuse to loan him any more money.Being broke he gets things which money can't buy. A movie which shows glimpses of the meaning o life. Just brilliant.
... View MoreDiamond Necklace: I remember reading an article on the winds of change that has begun to hit the Malayalam film industry and how every aspiring film maker wanted to try their luck with a 'bold' script - a bastard child born to a producer who wants a commercial hit and a script writer who wants to bring art to life. Lal Jose, perhaps, in the same line, manages to bring together a script that is more commercial, but yet has elements of art spread across the story line. Believable performances from Fahad and the three female characters, ensures that these 'elements' I referred to, shine brightly and remain to be enjoyed. The story of a playboy flirting with money and women would have been told a million times; but interestingly, the script writer chose to ignore the 'playboy oomph' that is more 'reel', and instead zooms in and unmasks the 'real' life behind them. The film has its share of humor, romance, drama, and thrill; in fact to the right degree. Shot extensively in Dubai, the director(and the editor) has taken care not to dilute the story line with unwanted cuts and frames of the luxury in offer in the desert, and also intelligently places and exposes brands to the audience wherever the script demands its presence(barring one scene with Mr. Joy Alukkas). Overall, a decent watch, from a veteran in industry. I would gladly give it a 8/10. Good to see fresh scripts emerging. Now to terminate Shaji Kailas and the remaining in his league.
... View MoreAfter the hit movie 'Arabikatha', the next movie from the Lal Jose-Iqbal Kuttipuram, Diamond Necklace is just an average flick. The movie got a superb plot, directed well by Lal Jose, pictured well by Samir, and above all, the superb performane from the lead actors. Then what made this average. Its nothing else other than the script. The script failed to deliver the plot well. Felt Iqbal was unaware about where to stop scenes, where to move next etc., which happened to him in 'Sevenes' also. The credit goes to Lal jose, Samir and the actors especially Fahad, Samvrita, Gauthamy and Anusree for holding the movie to make it an average one.The last 20-25 minutes till the climax was superb and it made me to clap at the end of the movie. There the script was also nice. But the rest was the problem and it felt dragging in parts.Considering the performance, Fahad again rocked as Dr.Arun. He will be an asset for mollywood. Samvrita was cute to see and performed well especially in the hospital scene. Gauthami and Anusree did their part well. Rest all, Sreenivasan, Revathy etc did justice to their roles.
