Highly Overrated But Still Good

The film creates a perfect balance between action and depth of basic needs, in the midst of an infertile atmosphere.

There's no way I can possibly love it entirely but I just think its ridiculously bad, but enjoyable at the same time.

WOW!!! Death Wish 3 is ABSOLUTELY crazy & fun as hell & i love the opening scene with kersey on a coach with some beautiful music score playing it's funky & cool as hell. In death wish 3 the Apocalyptic gritty streets of New York City is a battleground for street creeps & psycho gangs & they are terrorising a big old tenement building in a really rough & rundown neighbourhood & no one will help these poor old folks until PAUL KERSEY (Bronson) shows up to visit a friend who has been killed by those creeps. BRONSON is fantastic in this crazy urban Rambo & the Action is incredible & has to be seen to be believed IT'S that good & crazy!!! Paul Kersey is such a cool & calm character he's a silent avenger who just shoots the scum & goes back to dinner lol a great character & paul kersey has been as an action hero. part 3 is ultra violent & full of fun & absolutely crazy with ridiculous dialogue & character interactions but it's still so much FUN & that's because BRONSON is such a great screen presence & is perfect in the role of paul kersey & has NEVER been better!!! So yeah ever since watching this late at night & absolutely loving the craziness of part 3 i adore it so much as i grew up on 80s Action & this is like the Schwarzenegger classic Commando it's that action packed!!! So yeah love this gritty little fun fest but i will say it's side by side with part 1 (1974) for best of the franchise as both are excellent death wish films. ALSO DEATH WISH 3 is so quotable with stupid lines like "chicken is good i like chicken" or " do you like opera - it's restful" or " he killed the giggler man the giggler" - "he had no business doing that" "it's my car" lots of cool funny & countless other crazy gems but hey IT'S all fun & love the franchise. DEATH WISH 3 (1985) really is so much fun,This is also one of my most watched films of all time, Not the best made but DEFINITELY the most action packed fun in a film I've ever seen (right next to COMMANDO) AN ACTION MASTERPIECE & GREAT LATE NIGHT ENTERTAINMENT & a proper GRINDHOUSE classic

With the previous two movies being essentially the one and the same, then I was somewhat dreading sitting down to watch "Death Wish 3".However, at least this third movie has an original story to it. Sure, it wasn't an overly thrilling or impressive story, but it differed from the previous two movies to make it stand out. They did up the action quite a lot in this third movie, as there was a lot of action and fighting throughout most of the movie. The gang members that Paul Kersey (played by Charles Bronson) was fighting in "Death Wish 3" seemed like something from a comic book gang, and were hard to take serious."Death Wish 3" feels very campy, yet it was still refreshing that they broke the formula from the previous two movies.

Death Wish 3 (1985) *** (out of 4)Paul Kersey (Charles Bronson) is on a bus heading to visit a friend in New York City but once he gets there he finds the friend dead. It turns out that the neighborhood has been taken over by a gang of ruthless murdering thugs so to protect the building his friend lived in Kersey straps the guns back on and prepares for battle.DEATH WISH 3 has become one of the biggest cult action films of the decade and it's very easy to see why because you're not going to find a more over-the-top or insane picture. The final twenty or so minutes of this picture contains some of the wackiest and most outrageous action scenes that you'll ever witness so it's easy to watch them while drinking a beer and cheering along. What's always been so shocking to me about this series is how drastically different the films are from one another. The first film was a very dark and disturbing picture that asked political and social questions about killing. The second picture was a downright cheap exploitation movie. This third film seems like an out of control video game where Bronson is just given a wide range of weapons and we see him use them against some of the craziest group of villains that you'll ever see.DEATH WISH 3 is certainly a very weird movie but it's also a very entertaining one. Again, the main reason to watch this film is just to see Bronson back in action. I know he said in several interviews that he hated this picture but it really does look as if he's having fun. He's given some creative ways to kill people and there's even some humor thrown in from various traps that he sets up. Again, the real highlight comes in the final action sequence where an entire town gets blown up. This final sequence ranks as one of the wildest in cinema history. As I said, I think Bronson is in fine form here but we also get nice supporting performances from Martin Balsam, Ed Lauter, Deborah Raffin and Gavan O'Herlihy. Michael Winner does a good job at not taking anything too serious and he certainly manages to deliver a fast and loose picture. Again, it's rather shocking to see how different this film is compared to the previous two but DEATH WISH 3 deserves credit for trying something different.

Provided the viewer goes into this movie knowing it is a bonanza of cheesy acting, corny dialogue, handguns that fire 46 rounds without the need to reload, and bad-guys who can't shoot worth a damn, Death Wish 3 is an enjoyable journey through a mid-1980s environment of urban blight, multi-racial criminal gangs, incompetent police, and helpless civilians who couldn't protect themselves from a larger-than-average bumblebee. Please understand that this is not a hit-piece against Charles Bronson or any of the other actors or makers of this film. The truly dedicated performances turned in by the actors should not be diminished by the utter silliness and hilarity of the movie which resulted.
