Confessions of a Shopaholic Trailers

In the glamorous world of New York City, Rebecca Bloomwood is a fun-loving girl who is really good at shopping - a little too good, perhaps. She dreams of working for her favorite fashion magazine, but can't quite get her foot in the door - until ironically, she snags a job as an advice columnist for a financial magazine published by the same company.

Instead, you get a movie that's enjoyable enough, but leaves you feeling like it could have been much, much more.

I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.

John Goodman and Joan Cusak. Really. When have they ever been in a bad movie. They played second fiddle but they were perfectly wonderful. Isla Fisher was beautiful and funny all at the same time. And this Hugh Dansey. Never heard of this guy before but he was like a young Hugh Grant who I don't care what anyone says, is hilarious. Of course the young and the stupid gave this a bad rating. That is because the only comedy they understand is someone who is dumb. Dumb and Dumber. This is smart comedy with a flare. Good family fun. Just make sure there are some onions around to blame for the tears toward the end.

It's funny and genuine and an overall nice movie to watch. It also teaches a great lesson, which is to be wary of how much you shop. Although I, personally, am the type of person who feels guilty after getting so much as four clothing items, I still really enjoyed this movie and I felt like I could relate to some parts (like when Rebecca explains the thrill of buying something). As someone else mentioned, the CGI mannequins are really impressive and it wasn't something I'd expect from a movie made a whole seven years ago. Also, pretty much all of the characters were enjoyable and I'm glad that the "mean" girl (can't seem to remember her name, but she's blond and tall and described as having "spidery long legs") isn't really as mean as I'd expected her to be. The movie doesn't really put too much of a focus on her which I appreciate because I dislike when movies center on the main character (in this case, Rebecca) having a seemingly endless feud with the main, female villain (in the case, the "spidery legs" girl. Sorry, still can't remember her name). All in all, it's an enjoyable movie and although it's centered more towards females, it can still be a great movie to watch on a family night.

Even though I haven't read the books that it's based on, CONFESSIONS OF A SHOPAHOLIC, in my opinion, is an excellent movie that can surely teach you about spending money wisely. If you ask me, all of the mishaps that Rebecca (Isla Fisher) got into were hilarious. One reason I said that was because she was always trying avoid debt collectors. I simply couldn't stand Derek (Robert Stanton). Other than that, everything about this movie was great. The production design was great, the performances were top-grade, and the costume design was fantastic. If you're a fan of Isla Fisher or enjoyed the best-selling Sophie Kinsella novels that this film is based on, I highly recommend this movie. You're in for a real treat, so rent it or buy it, kick back with someone, and see it today. I guarantee you that you'll really enjoy it.

I gave 4 out of 10, because I absolutely love the Shopaholic books. I loved the clever jokes, the funny-but-awkward moments and situations, I loved Becky Bloomwood. This film takes her name, her original story, flaps it around, tears it apart and spits on it. The lovely, clever story of a girl who finds herself in the middle of trouble, gets transformed to a dull movie which has everything wrong -bad acting and it continues until you get tired of glancing the time.I'm sad that the film turned out like this. A grade B chick flick, which isn't funny, entertaining or even "passable". Read the books, get to know true Becky Bloomwood.
