Lightning McQueen, a hotshot rookie race car driven to succeed, discovers that life is about the journey, not the finish line, when he finds himself unexpectedly detoured in the sleepy Route 66 town of Radiator Springs. On route across the country to the big Piston Cup Championship in California to compete against two seasoned pros, McQueen gets to know the town's offbeat characters.

If the ambition is to provide two hours of instantly forgettable, popcorn-munching escapism, it succeeds.

There are moments that feel comical, some horrific, and some downright inspiring but the tonal shifts hardly matter as the end results come to a film that's perfect for this time.

Perhaps Pixar's most childish and least emotionally resonant attempt thus far, this animated feature is based upon a nonsensical concept that isn't even entirely consistent within its own internal logic and also borrows most of its plot elements beat-for-beat from 'Doc Hollywood (1991)'. For most of the run-time I was surprised to find myself bored by the predictable plot peppered with thin characterisations and no laughs whatsoever. The finale picks up a little and provides some passing entertainment, though. It also has the hero learn a lesson that isn't necessarily set-up as obviously as the others. The lack of any emotional impact is what really compounds the flick as one of the coveted studio's weakest attempts. 5/10

If you want to know how you disregard all the hacks here on IMDb that are downvoting the really good movies, like this one, consider how California Adventures added a Cars land. The reason they did that (and added Cars rides) is because this movie is truly excellent, and Disney knew it.That and ticket sales tell you what's a truly popular movie, not the movie-lemmings that are downvoting this movie because of their other motives.Disney did not add a Wall-E land, for instance, and they never will. The reason why is because they know what is really a popular movie with the public.

Cars is an animated film produced by Pixar, and a great, and kind of underrated one as well. The Bad: NothingThe Good: 1. Great characters like Lightning McQueen, who transforms as a character. There are also good characters that conserve their qualities rather than transform, like Belle from Beauty and the Beast, for example. My view is that when it comes to characters that transform and conserve, get the best of both worlds, because transformation and conservation are interdependent opposing forces. There are also likable characters in this movie like Mater, who is funny, Chick Hicks, who is hilarious because he is like a toned down version of Trey Parker characters, which I can't stand and I especially hate Eric Cartman, who is an especially annoying character, Chick Hicks is an arrogant character in a reasonably over-the-top way without being annoying. 2. The animation is beautifully colourful. 3. The voice acting comprising of Owen Wilson as Lightning McQueen, Michael Keaton as Chick Hicks, Larry the Cable Guy as Mater, Bonnie Hunt as Sally Carrera, Paul Newman as Doc Hudson, Richard Petty as The King, Tony Shalhoub as Luigi, Cheech Marin as Ramone, Jenifer Lewis as Flo, George Carlin as Filmore, Michael Wallis as The Sheriff, Guido Quaroni as Guido, Paul Dooley as Sarge, Katherine Helmond as Lizzie, John Ratzenberger as Mack, Joe Ranft as Red and Jeremy Piven as Harv, is superb. The English language complements it by adding a necessary balance to the acting itself, because the English language plays a vital role to Pixar films, and a balance between the two makes a great American film, does not matter if it is live action or animation. 5. The story is fairly simple, but it is an effective one nonetheless.Cars is a fantastic and underrated animated film courtesy of Pixar, which definitely deserve a reputation for excellence in American animation, alongside Walt Disney Animation Studios.

A hot-shot race-car named Lightning McQueen gets waylaid in Radiator Springs, where he finds the true meaning of friendship and family. Cars is a very fantastic, sweet and entertaining family friendly animation that will win both kids and their parents for it's characters alone characters such as Lightning McQueen, Mater, Sally Carrera and late actor Paul Newman as Doc Hudson who is easily the best part of the movie since not only he brings McQueen back in action but he makes him see what really matters which is friendship and love. The big bad guy is played by Batman himself Michael Keaton voices Chick Hicks. Cars is not in the same league as Toy Story sure but it's a very sweet film that truly shows why friendship truly matters more than some stupid awards 10/10.
