Self-important, over-dramatic, uninspired.
... View MoreThis story has more twists and turns than a second-rate soap opera.
... View MoreThe tone of this movie is interesting -- the stakes are both dramatic and high, but it's balanced with a lot of fun, tongue and cheek dialogue.
... View MoreIt is neither dumb nor smart enough to be fun, and spends way too much time with its boring human characters.
... View MoreI remember seeing Buster and Billie on ABC during high school and, although I could often tell when the censors were a snippin' away, I had no idea that they were circumcising the movie! B and B is a passable (read stupid, but entertaining) nostalgia flick that features young love and brutality, all decked out in vintage cars and slicked-back haircuts. But imagine my surprise when I saw it on cable or on a rental years later! I figured Billie was nekked with a sex and rape going on ("Let's go get Billie!"), but seeing full frontal dealy-bobbers (this is what passes for intelligent writing, folks!) was not what I anticipated. When I saw Boogie Nights, I thought I was having some sort of phallic Vietnam flashback.Zoicks!
... View MoreWhile doing a search on your website to find out what other movies Robert Englund was in besides A Nightmare on Elm Street I came across a movie that I haven't thought of in years, Buster and Billie. I immediately felt this wave of emotion. I was 20 when this movie was released and although I couldn't remember right away the whole plot of the movie I remembered it as one of my favourites. After reading some of the story line and talking to my husband who has a much better memory than I do I realized why my feeling at the mere mention of the title was so extreme. It was wonderful albeit very, very tragic. My husband also remembers it as being one of his favourites. I don't know if I want to ever watch it again or just keep the memory of a film that touched me deeply years ago.
... View MoreThanks IMDb! I saw this movie as a teenager and was very impressed. This was my first viewing of a male naked and I must say...Jan-Michael Vincent never left my memory. I have searched for years for a copy of this movie. I could not remember the names of any of the other actors. Jan-Michael Vincent is the one that I could never forget. I now realize that one of the problems was that I was spelling Billie with a y and had no luck with my search, until now. I am trying to rent this movie but I am gathering it is only available VHS and not DVD. Is this information correct? Any information that you can provide me with will be greatly appreciated. Thanks again!! I will truly enjoy viewing this movie again!!! Sherry
... View MoreThis is the kind of movie that hard-core movie fans watch again and again and talk about endlessly. I have seen it a dozen times and there is more to it each time. But we have to ask how it narrowly missed greatness. The chemistry between Jan Michael Vincent and Joan Goodfellow works as it is; but Hollywood was so intent on making JVM a "star" that much stronger actors were passed over. The biggest imponderable is this: Roberta Pedon read for the part of "Billie"; if she had been chosen for the role (despite her well-known drug problems and troubled past) and a stronger male actor cast as "Buster", this movie could have become a downbeat version of "Casablanca" for the baby-boom generation. Joan Goodfellow plays the "Billie" role in an intentionally understated and professional manner; but Vincent can't seem to decide whether he is playing a tormented lover or a kung-fu fighter. He fails at both.
