Good start, but then it gets ruined
... View MoreAlthough I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.
... View MoreIt really made me laugh, but for some moments I was tearing up because I could relate so much.
... View MoreThis is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.
... View MoreAn amusing spoof B movie with some of the cheesiest music since 70's porn filmsIt is not a blockbuster. It is like the old school gore flicks like Reanimator. Worth a watch if you are a Zombie movie film fan.
... View More"Attack of the Lederhosen Zombies" is the kind of movie you'd expect to spawn a line of sequels and a devoted cult following. Horror fans will watch "Lederhosen Zombies" and appreciate director Dominik Hartl and crew's stylish use of practical effects while casual movie-goers will sit back, bring out the popcorn, and have fun with this jam-packed, new- age horror flick. The film opens against a backdrop of the Austrian Alps with pro-snowboarder Steve (played by baby-faced Laurie Calvert) shredding downhill, hoping to score the deal of a lifetime. When his antics get him into trouble, he loses a sponsor and a way out of the mountains. Steve, girlfriend Branka (Gabriela Marcinkova), and buddy Josh (Oscar Giese) seek assistance at a nearby pub but discover their only way out is, of course, temporarily unavailable until further notice. The film then spirals deeper, darker, and bloodier down a neon scape of carnage as if straight out of a late 80s horror flick.Like a horror flick out of the late 80s, there are also laughs and humor interspersed throughout. It's 2017, though, and the humor here is self-aware and ironic. "Lederhosen Zombies" takes jabs at the classic horror/zombie film formula while telling its own story. It's not as satirical as, say, the "Scary Movie" franchise, but it's in the same vein. If you're looking for new horror films to sink your teeth into, watch "Attack of the Lederhosen Zombies" on your next Friday night movie binge.
... View MoreA worth addition to the zombie spoof genre, Attack of the Lederhosen Zombies does a fantastic job of retaining the theatricality of slasher films and blending it with colorful twists that I thought were both unique and fun. The heroes are a ragtag trio of snowboarders whose chemistry is something I haven't seen in many movies before. The plot takes a thrilling turn as the gang finds themselves trapped on the Alps in a log cabin bar surrounded by zombies poisoned by a rogue science experiment. They then must devise imaginative ways of battling the undead as they try to make it to safety. The movie does not fall short on its graphic scenes of decapitation and laceration. Though I am not usually a big fan of slasher films, the violent scenes were done in an entertaining and classic horror way. And I loved how all of it was paired with catchphrase dialogue, slapstick fun and solid character development. A surprisingly lighthearted comedy punctuated by timeless zombie graphics, Attack of the Lederhosen Zombies was a good choice when I was looking for an easy and entertaining watch.
... View MoreFrom the very start, the film opens with breath-taking visuals. The expansive aerial shots of the Alps are just plain stunning. Furthermore, when it comes to the interiors cinematographers Xiaosu Han and Andreas Thalhammer know how to capture a moment. They establish a very interesting lighting style distinguished by neon colored lights that, while not distracting from the main action, create a heightened reality which services the tone of the piece nicely. When it comes to the writing, there are more laugh-out-loud jokes than I usually see in this genre as well as a deeper romantic subplot than to be expected from just the name alone. Speaking of romance, leads Laurie Calvert and Gabriela Marcinková work well together to create a very believable and impassioned couple dynamic. I would be remiss to not mention the constant barrage of bloody special effects that horror regulars will be sure to love. However, from a purely cinematic point of view, Attack of the Lederhosen Zombies is not just simply skillfully made but also should serve as a shining example to the rest of the horror filmmaking community. Even if you only have a low-key interest in the genre, there will definitely be something in Attack of the Lederhosen Zombies to please you.
