What a freaking movie. So many twists and turns. Absolutely intense from start to finish.

Great example of an old-fashioned, pure-at-heart escapist event movie that doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not and has boat loads of fun being its own ludicrous self.

At the time of this writing the review score is a 1.8. I read some of the reviews and they were SCATHING, almost mean. I watch a lot of movies. Some deserve such a low rating. This one, however does NOT.The opening scene was very well done, starting off with fighter planes that drew me right in. I immediately got the feeling and flavor of 1990's movie of the week, flavor. This film, obviously, did not have a huge Hollywood budget. And, admittedly, there are some spots where it is lacking the realism of having the money to make the special effects top-notch realistic. (maybe that's why I got the feeling of a 1990's movie) While I noticed the deficiency in a some spots, it was not so bad as to be laughable (like some 1.8 movies) or bad enough to disengage me from the story.By 30 minutes in, the pace and action had me still interested. The acting again, not Oscar level, but done well enough. The camera work and score was done very well. The directing, on the other hand, and the screenplay/story leaves quite a bit to be desired at times. There were scenes that looked and felt so unrealistic that I couldn't help but notice. Disengaging me. But I was able to get back into the movie quickly. This is not a terrible movie. It does have it's flaws, but I have seen so much worse. Since I am a huge fan of catastrophe based movies, I can overlook some flaws if they aren't to huge and to often, and that I suppose, sums up this movie.

Some movies are so bad that they're good. This is not one of those movies. We all love a good bad movie. The kind that's hopelessly inept, but at least has a heart, or unintentional comedy, or some vitality or misguided ambition. Or some other redeeming quality. Age of Ice has none of that. It's just bad in every way that it's possible for a movie to be bad. How bad, exactly? It's as bad as your mind will allow you to comprehend. It's so bad that it could kill a horse from a 100m distance. I could enumerate the problems with this movie, but frankly I don't have the vocabulary for it. There are only so many ways you can say "horrible", "atrocious", etc. Just imagine a very long list of things that people often (or even sometimes) like in a movie. And then imagine a movie that does the exact opposite - Every. Single. Sime.If you decide to watch Age of Ice, then may God have mercy on your soul.

A visionary science fiction epic about catastrophic climate change and the birth of a new ice age. Written and Directed by the gifted Emile Edwin Smith, this is a truly riveting film of incredible suspense and epic in scope. The vast vistas of a frozen Arabia, snow covered pyramids, and an ice encrusted Sphynx are stunning. Smith also incorporates very human, personal stories that give the audience real people to care about as they fight for survival against the horrific natural phenomenon. Barton Bund, Bailey Spry, and Jules Hartley give superb performances as individuals faced with unbelievable terror and overwhelming circumstance that challenge them to their very limits. A special mention should be made of the beautifully realized cinematography as it is supremely effective in capturing the hellish environment in realistic panoramas that are simply staggering.
