Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.

There are moments in this movie where the great movie it could've been peek out... They're fleeting, here, but they're worth savoring, and they happen often enough to make it worth your while.

/refers to all seasons 1-4/I have no military connections and I am rather picky in watching related movies-series as they tend to be full of pathos and justify the hegemony of a single country (usually the U.S.A.). They are often also too "male", thus focusing purely on military actions and brutal force. But The Unit, luckily, is different: each episode includes no single strict event, there are 2-3 matters happening at the same time, and both the fates of military personnel and their wives carry the same importance. That is why it is recommended to watch all episodes and seasons in sequence, as casual flashbacks may not clarify some incidents in full, plus several occasions have their roots in rather distant past. Most events take place in foreign countries and their atmosphere has been captured realistically (apparently filming on the spot).Seasons 3 and 4 are more "bold", with features of intertwines and brave twists characteristic to modern Scandinavian and British series, above all, while 1 and 2 are more focused on a certain event having its solution in the same episode. Of course, not all episodes are equally interesting or good, but there are no ridiculous or airy-fairy ones, "good guys" get killed/hurt and do nasty things sometimes... At least to me, the ops etc. seem realistic, but as the script in based on" Inside Delta Force: The Story of America's Elite Counter terrorist Unit" by Eric L. Haney, one could expect a solid and deserving basis. The cast is definitely above average as well, particularly Dennis Haysbert as Sergeant Major Jonas Blane, Regina Taylor as Molly Blane and Robert Patrick as Col. Thomas Ryan who all have the characters of different kind of mentors. All in all, a balanced and realistic creation, providing food for thought from time to time and letting the viewers ponder on and over nobility vs. necessity and should create an understanding that soft measures are often not enough...

I've never been in the Military but I've always been fascinated by military history. Recently, I started reading into Navy SEALs eventually found out about SFOD- Delta. I watched many movies related to Special Ops stuff. Eventually my search led me to The Unit. As soon as I finished the first episode, I was hooked. Hooked to the point where I was reading more about Special Forces, Green Berets, Rangers, etc... It even prompted me to order Haney's Book and read and watch Dale Comstock's (ex-Delta operator) interviews. I have no idea to which extent the realism of the shows pans out. I'm sure in reality it's not as portrayed in the show but I'm sure it's just as complex. I've grown to admire the US Army's Special Forces specially the Deltas or whatever they're called. The series shows that they are just as human as us but they are at a different league on how they handle things. All in all, it's a top notch show! I love it and would highly recommend it to any military fan. For those who enjoy it but don't know much about special ops, I suggest you do some research. It's very interesting and learned a lot. :D

I really enjoyed the show until the end of episode 20 when the writers introduced homosexuality into the show in a horrible manner. Completely demeaning our heros of WW2 and in the story demeaning the dead hero's wife. Of course it happened back then no one is saying it did'nt but why did the writers feel a need to rub our faces in it. Why go where every other show on TV has already gone. There is so much to offer the audience so why stoop to that level? Why go out of your way to alienate your audience. Why did they have to take it there? Ruined the show for me and the wife...

A bunch of American soldiers go abroad and take down dictators and other 'bad guys' and then come back home to their wives. It's made for the American audience in my opinion as it justifies the deaths of foreigners because they are threatening the stability of America...I watched the pilot for five minutes and found it entirely unrealistic as they tried to blow a jeep with a rocket launcher...And then the wives come into the plot...crying and worrying....And then the guys come home in time for dinner and then they all go to sleep happy...I mean 24 which I am watching now, is very interesting as it focuses on the characters...But this is utterly garbage and designed to show how great America is...Don't get me wrong, America is great country...but this is kind of too much in your face....Just another mindless action television show.
