This is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.

If you like to be scared, if you like to laugh, and if you like to learn a thing or two at the movies, this absolutely cannot be missed.

It is like Xena Warrior Princess was- FUNNY. Good clean fun you can enjoy with the kids on a rainy or wintery day!

If Wu Chenen is still living, he would say it is not my novel. If copy right lasts forever, Netflix would never have the chance to ruin the classics. If Netflex want to film the classic, pls read the orginal novel and understand the cultural background. If Netflex want to tell new story, then use new name and create new characters. Do not take advantage of the classic and ruin it! Some one say it means cultural diversity. However, on my opinion, it is profits-driven. Not every monkey could be called Monkey King!

I grew up watching the 'adventure' shows of that time, Xena and Hercules. This feels almost like those shows. The villains are comic-book, the humour is a mixture of slapstick and cheeky while the storyline, although oddly executed, is compelling.It's not to be taken seriously. It's very fun. Reincarnating Tripitaka and Sandy as women is a nice touch. Give it a shot and go in with an open mind.

All the cheesiness that I loved in the original show while growing up is alive & kicking here.. truly a show for fans but might not appeal as much to new audiences.. I'm loving it & hoping for a second season
