The movie's not perfect, but it sticks the landing of its message. It was engaging - thrilling at times - and I personally thought it was a great time.

Why is there no 'goofs' list on this? The series is full of it (no one seems to be checking and double checking facts or putting together all the facts for comparison - and don't give me any about tunnel vision, because it just doesn't fly, or even get to the airstrip). Here's about the biggest flaw. The series starts out pretty good, I'll admit that; atmospheric, dark, interesting story lines (politics, murder, the bereaved family), but then, in episode 10, finally, they get the smart idea to interview cab drivers. Okay, maybe they had a little tunnel vision going on with that teacher and didn't think to put out a broader net, and it's not like that has never happened with the police, right? Okay. But then, in the end it turns out that the cab driver who 'reported' Nanna to Varg (instead of Theis, who wasn't able to take the call), who then 'ended up' killing her (that part deserves some question marks as well, including his previous murder, but oh, well)... Why, then, when the cab driver (Leon Frevert) knew that he turned Varg onto Nanna, did he not say anything to anyone? I can't come up with anything, and that's because there isn't anything. Just pi*s-poor writing, through which the whole series collapsed in the final episode(s).I could say something about the thoroughly good acting as I have already mentioned some other positive things about it, but it doesn't change much. Okay, yes, I was pretty captivated until episode 10, and there is still some pretty good and interesting stuff going on here and there, but when the basic writing of a crime series of this supposed stature fails as miserably as this, I really have to dig hard and deep for some mercy...And voila, I guess I found it: 4 out of 10.

Highly addictive TV!The US version doesn't compare to the original -- definitely wouldn't cause me to miss an entire night's sleep like the Danish version (hint: don't start watching in the evening if you have all the episodes available). Love the way they morphed the ending of each episode to serve as a next-episode-preview-without-spoilers effect, always that same music with the characters having different revelations. I must've rewound a minute or so at least twice at the end of each episode just to admire the technique.I'm a fan of Danish detective series in general, doesn't really matter who-dunnit, I enjoy the ride :-) I like how their actors look and act as someone in their scenarios might -- less emphasis on wardrobe, hair & makeup with a huge effort in writing and acting. This one, Broen | Bron, and Äkta Människor have been my favorites so far, all of which have English-speaking remakes that pale in comparison.

I'm very disappointed. I was a great fan of the Killing, all three series - until the last few minutes of the final episode. It made no sense at all, in my opinion. Lund was not the type to kill a suspect, as she never got worked up over criminals. Obsessive, yes, but consumed with anger, no. There was certainly no sign that she was about to crack up in the episode concerned. Also, it had not been established at all that the man she kills is beyond being brought to justice by the normal procedures. Then, to cap all that, she lets herself be persuaded to try a harebrained scheme to fly off to pastures new in order to escape the consequences of her own crime. I don't think so. If Lund were to lose her wits sufficiently to kill a suspect, she would either turn herself in, or turn the gun on herself. Bad, bad, bad.

Watching this series was often exhilarating and involving, but around episode 6 I began to tire of so many gratuitous red herrings, which created a too-predictable pace. "Ah, now we suspect HIM...but there's too much time left...so it can't be him!" It think the story would have been stronger if it had been shorter, or else less predictable. And the ending...what can I say? Deeply, deeply disappointing in just about every way, all the more so because I just didn't buy all the cynicism, especially of the tycoon father, who could hardly just "forget" the man who just put him through total hell. Now he would just shut up and forget about it? Hmmmm, I don't think so. Nor did I really accept the behavior of the Prime Minister, or of our heroine. Too bad!In every way, inferior to The Bridge, which was of equal length but totally brilliant, rigorously consistent, and painfully logical right up to the final moment.
