... View MoreI had just gotten home from the hospital after a bout of pneumonia and I was parked in front of the TV with my niece and there was nothing on but Daytime TV garbage and I wound up on the Qubo channel and a squiggly looking cartoon dealing with a battle with vomit zombies. We just sat glued to the TV for the next hour laughing our heads off.We were both hooked and every day at 3pm it' son whether she's there or not. It's one of those rare kid shows (in the states at least) that also has things for adults in it as well.My Niece now also has a pretty mean Stacy impersonation and the whole "Uranus" Schtick has become a running gag with us to disrupt family gatherings and those that take things too seriously. It's done by Nelvana studios and if you want to see some more of their brilliantly absurd shows, try Ned's Newt, Grossology (Which airs at dinner time here but doesn't stop us from watching it) and Being Ian.
... View MoreWHAT A GREAT CARTOON! I can truly understand why so many people never "got it" with Stickin' Around. They either didn't give the show much of a chance or (more likely) just couldn't allow their inner-kid to connect with the art form.OF COURSE it looks like it was drawn by 4-year olds. It's a show about how KIDS view their own worlds and those around them, not how adults portray the world of kids. As great as other 'kids cartoons' like the Peanuts were (and still are), none before Stickin' Around ever bothered trying to capture the crazy, disorganized, off the wall, erratic, and most times just down-right silly behavior and zany imaginations that most kids bask in on a daily basis. Bottom line: KIDS...ARE...SILLY. And this cartoon gets (got) that! I was 26 years old when I first saw this cartoon and I connected with it instantly! I read someone else's comparison to Fillmore (another great Saturday Morning cartoon - sadly taken off air, I guess because not enough kids' attentions spans were developed enough to follow a plot more in-depth than tripe the likes of Pokemon would allow. tisk, tisk, tisk...) I've always been a bit of an out-of-the box type of person to begin with, which I suppose is why I so instantly gravitated to this cartoon. I think I can safely say Stickin' Around is in my top 3 favorite Saturday Morning cartoons of all time. Yes, even better than Bugs Bunny and Road Runner (the original ones, not the poorly-drawn, poorly voiced and politically correct later iterations where Bugs is this nice little polite bunny who offends no one) Just my 2-cents
... View MoreYes, to an adult seeing this show for the first time, Stickin' Around seems like a stupid, poorly-drawn show. But when I saw this as an eight year old, it was the funniest thing on Earth. And now when I go back to Canada to visit, I always make sure I watch this show. The guy (I think named Dill) is so funny. I call him "the guy with the wiggling socks". And that girl who always drags around her dead dog named pepperoni, it is hilarious. It is that kind of show that is made by the wierd comedy.
... View MoreWhat kind of cheap animation was this? I saw this cartoon once on a Saturday morning while I was waiting for my friends to come pick me up to go to the mall. I have to say that this is the absolute worst piece of rubbish (since The Simpsons) I have seen in my life! The animation was all a bunch of cheaply drawn stick figures and the characters were all, as Richard Pryor would say, "null, dull, and void"! Stickin' Around was a celluloid piece of animated trash! Just look at the title, itself. A 6 year old would hate this! The kids in the cartoon acted like the usual smart-alleck kid on a sit-com. Of course, there were also the antagonist bullies. There was just nothing good about this, no humor, no in depth storyline, even the dialogue was lame. Sometimes I wonder if this cartoon was really unpopular with kids at the time it was out.Don't get me started on that character 'Dill'. What were they thinking? And when I looked this show up, I learned it actually had 2 seasons! This crap makes Beavis and Butthead look funny! Well, at least this cartoon is totally forgotten into oblivion.
