Let's be realistic.

... View MoreOne of the best movies of the year! Incredible from the beginning to the end.
... View MoreTo the producers of this show: THERE IS ONLY ONE CAPTAIN KIRK (William Shatner). We don't want to see some ugly effeminate dude with a high-pitched voice trying to stand in for the great Bill Shatner. THERE IS ONLY ONE MR. SPOCK (Leonard Nimoy). We don't want to see some guy with a goofy haircut and the wrong complexion who looks like he's 11-years old doing a bad job of trying to be Spock.Same notation for all the other characters. And therein lies the problem: the producers should have used all new characters (example: Captain Smith, Science Officer Jones, etc.), and they should be on a different ship (example: U.S.S. Independence). The idea to 'continue' the series with a Starfleet ship, the same sets, the same ship sounds, the same uniforms (especially the chicks in those mini-skirts), this was an exciting idea. But to get other actors to play such beloved characters from the original series was a death sentence for the show.An example of my theory is the new character of Elise McKenna (Michele Specht). She is believable and beautiful. This was a promising show idea, but when the producers came to the question of either making the crew the same characters from the original series - or - making the crew a different one, they made the wrong choice.Opportunity missed. Too bad.
... View MoreI simply could not believe that someone had finally gotten it right. I've waded thru a lot only to emerge after decades of wannabe shows and movies landing on this incredible extension of what was truly original. My deepest thanks.
... View MoreAnd Im not exaggerating. Usually with fan produced stuff you notice the budged constraints and somewhat beginner approach quickly, the color grading, some actors and their performance, story lines etc... This however, boy. The guy playing Kirk is indistinguishable from Shatner almost, the mannerism, the stance, the voice pattern. Its all spot on. The camera work is exactly the same as in TOS. While the surroundings are a throwback to TOS, combined with today's CGI, its at the same time a perfect homage to the original and also a polished excellent product as a series. And lets not forget the stories, the core of ST. We all know certain ST series were/are not up to par on that front. The ST stories were extremely witty moral quandaries with exceptional, often completely unforeseen, twists at the end and at the same times often breaking social taboos. This series sticks hard to that in most episodes while at the same times balancing it out wonderfully with enough humour and action as the original TOS and other great ST series. All in all, please give it a chance if you are a ST fan and especially if you like and cherish the original series with Kirk. This show has none of the drawbacks of other fan made series, there is zero evidence its anything other than 100% studio financed product in terms of production and at the same times 100% loyal to all the core values and elements of ST universe that we love and that made it great.
... View MoreJust watched E10 "To Boldly Go: Part 1" and I can see that the writing, set designs, costumes, sound, photography keeps improving. "Star Trek Continues" is far better than "Star Trek Continues" which has much more money to continue the ST saga. Kudos to these Star Trek fans for keeping it authentic to the TOS used to be!
