Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.

The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.

Jonah makes an excellent Robin Hood, in fact the whole cast was great! I really enjoyed it, the story, the characters, the bonding. All up until 03x02, from there on I ignore quite a bit of it. Sure there were some cool parts in Series 3 but I personally enjoyed s1 and s2 more. If Kate didn't replace Marian, which no one could have anyway, I believe I'd enjoy s3 more than I did, although a sad ending, it was a good ending. Robin found happiness, and peace.

The first series episodes were quite excellent, the story lines followed and it was beginning to become a really good TV show. I loved the last episode where Marian punched Guy and left him at the alter to go with robin and the legend started to fall into place. I do wish however, Robin's friendship with the gang was portrayed stronger as it seems Much is supposed to be Robin's best friend - they just drift throughout and its quite annoying to watch. However, once series 2 ended, I was devastated. How can Guy kill Marian? I have watched other adaptations and they all show how Robin and Marian's love lasted and the sheriff and his associates were killed off. If she was to live, I would of love to have seen what would happen next in their relationship. I must admit, I did like Guy's and Marian's intimacy in series 2 because her character is a caring person but Guy saw this care as love. It was clear he was angry but he shouldn't kill her just because she loves another man. Then a pointless series 3 came with a girl called Kate who seemed like the slut of the 'merry men' even though she isn't a man, she really annoyed me and came across to aggressive. Also Robin started to like her? I know he is widow now, but I thought he always loved Marian, why should he go kissing Kate and also Isabella? what was her purpose, she was just as annoying. By this time in the TV show, the story lines started to get repetitive and it is a shame it ended because it could've turned out so differently. All this nonsense about the half-brother business between Guy and Robin is confusing and ridiculous, I found it interesting looking at their lives before hand in episode 10 - "Bad Blood" because it started the beginning of the end. Too be honest, I knew that most of the characters would die and it would be cheesy. The only good thing to come out of this series was friar tuck, I love that character, he was quite philosophical and religious - he did keep to the motto Robin wanted "We do not kill" - however they all did.I did enjoy Robin Hood while it lasted, I loved most of the characters and the portrayal of the Sheriff was done excellently, he did become annoying towards the end which I am glad they killed him off. I do recommend only watching series 1 to anybody who wants to watch this series as the other two just ruin everything (Marian dies, Will and Djaq leave, Sir Edward dies, Guy dies, Allan dies, Robin dies) - leave it as Robin and Marian are in a relationship, they set up the sheriff and the merry men all jump at the end. If only they made different decisions for series 2 then series 3 wouldn't be a flop.

This is the best version of the Robin Hood legend I have seen, movie or TV series, and I have seen them all. It could have only been made in England and be so true to the many variations of the legends and the characters in the legends. I loved the accuracy of the period from the weapons used to the bows and arrows and even to the coinage used in the series. I liked the humanness of all of the characters and the idea that We are Robin Hood. This too hearkens back to the many variations of the legend. If historical Robin Hood was likely many individuals. As legends do, he has become a concept rather than a person. Highly recommended.

My family loved the "Robin Hood" BBC series and I'm stunned at how vicious some of these reviews are. Robin Hood is terrific entertainment for its demographic-- families and children aged 8-16. It is suspenseful, action-packed, true to the historical foundation and a terrific show.Obviously the show is a far cry from perfect:1. Like the "Merlin" series, it frequently falls into a repetitive trap with Robin and his gang cheating death/escaping the executioner every episode. 2.The action/fight scenes usually border on the absurd, as the outnumbered Merry Men wallop on heavily armored soldiers and receive nary a scratch. 3. By season 3 the story arc just becomes too much and things become a little silly. 4. They will not win any awards for costumes or historical authenticity. In the whole scheme of things the negatives are outweighed by the positives. Give it a try, your family will love it.
