Highly Overrated But Still Good

A Major Disappointment

The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one

The movie's not perfect, but it sticks the landing of its message. It was engaging - thrilling at times - and I personally thought it was a great time.

The first episode starts out well enough, tricking you into believing that this is a dark comedy/spy show. It's not. It's about a seriously depressed man on a quest to prevent nuclear armament in a certain country. As the story unfolds he encounters more and more obstacles. At first he tries to navigate them. After a very short while, he just gives up though. Seriously. The rest of the season is pretty much filler and close-ups of his sad, sad face. It's EXCRUCIATINGLY boring. Like, it gets so tedious it's almost hypnotic. I can't even say why I sat through the whole season. I regret watching it.

I kept thinking "what am I watching". I've never been so absolutely unsure of a show while totally loving it at the Same time. It's incredibly smart. Darkly funny. I mean soooooo frikin funny. Every character is written to perfection. It's concentrated entertainment. 9 stars

...and in my opinion up there with the greats (Sopranos, The Wire etc.).Patriot is basically a mix of Fargo, a Wes Anderson-film and a 70s-spy thriller. It's certainly not for everyone, as it has a very cinematic feel and can feel slow at times, but if you like the above-mentioned films, you will most certainly like this show. Can't wait for season two.

If you enjoy escapism in its truest form; if you appreciate characters with depth; if you have a sarcasm streak; and, if you believe music and lyrics can also play a major part in an entertaining series, do yourself a favor and spend 15 minutes of your life watching episode 1. After that? Either you will be hooked or you should check yourself for a pulse.
