What a waste of my time!!!
... View MoreSurprisingly incoherent and boring
... View MoreTells a fascinating and unsettling true story, and does so well, without pretending to have all the answers.
... View MoreOne of the film's great tricks is that, for a time, you think it will go down a rabbit hole of unrealistic glorification.
... View MoreOver the years, this show - and "The Closer" - formed a terrific block of crime drama. Probably my favorite since "Homicide: Life on the Street" many years ago. The cast was terrific and the decision to go in a different direction with Capt. Raydor's character, from the in "The Closer", worked very well. The casting director deserves high marks for getting wonderful actors for some of the surrounding characters: legal staff; families of victims and the villains. One of the consistencies with this show over the years was great writing, with some of the best villains I can remember on any crime show. No formulaic writing as on the very, very tired "Law &Order" series. Something that was always appreciated was an episode just about every season with a dose of humor in it. My sole criticism of the entire run was that there was absolutely no need for either the character Rusty or his story line. It added nothing to the run of the show and at times seemed very forced. (The actor wasn't the problem. The idea was.) I still don't know why the producers thought this character and story line were ever needed when the crime drama part was always so good. Definitely a series I will miss.
... View MoreI have read elsewhere that the real LAPD served as consultants on the show. If that is the case, how on earth did this whiny Rusty character make it to the screen? What department on the planet would allow some kid free access to squad rooms, computers, interviews, etc. I don't care that he was the Commander's adopted kid or that he had a miserable biological mother -- if anything, Raydor should have been extra cautious about him being around because it could have also meant the end of her career. His presence reminds me of a continual "bring your kid to work day," except he can do whatever he wants. Interview a prisoner who's involved in an active investigation? Sure, no problem! Want to sit in on viewing interviews or hang out in the murder room? No sweat! Want to have access to privileged information? Sounds good to me. NOT!!!I know this sounds really mean of me -- and fasten your seatbelts Rusty lovers -- but when I saw Stroh's message on the wall that Rusty was next, I actually cheered.
... View MoreI like the show and many of the characters, but this Rusty thread has Taken over much of the program now and not just a good show. Go back to solving crimes instead of the mushy drama. Not entertaining at all. This show had some funny, light heart ed quips, but now this Rusty, who never smiles and life is just too much of a depressing drama has taken over.
... View MoreIt was great that the supporting characters stayed on, I love Flynn & Provenza etc....actually prefer Captain Raydors cool calm ways to emotional? Brenda Lee!I used to agree with most people about the Rusty character but then I read somewhere about taking the time to think about the back story of this boy & how much of his behaviour makes sense & is acted very well by the actor playing Rusty. So after that, he didn't bother me & in rewatching the episodes, I had huge sympathy for all that he had experienced in his young life, as it wasn't just when he was abandoned by his mother & her boyfriend, his life was horrible before that.A character who also moved from the Closer was Commander Taylor & I actually was very annoyed by his character change, as he was a plonker in the closer who was promoted to commander to solve a problem with him & Brenda lee, not that he deserved it & with Major Crimes, he was the new pope character? To me he wasn't equipped for that position before but then all of a sudden he was, in Major crimes. But I loved both series but these days I would say Major Crimes is better, would have been nice for Brenda Lee to have popped in now & then, but not so far. Too busy in the 99 😜
