Great Film overall
... View MoreBest movie of this year hands down!
... View MoreBeautiful, moving film.
... View MoreIt's complicated... I really like the directing, acting and writing but, there are issues with the way it's shot that I just can't deny. As much as I love the storytelling and the fantastic performance but, there are also certain scenes that didn't need to exist.
... View MoreYou almost feel bad for Louie, with everything he's been through.
... View MoreThere's a trend in the television-community where they cancel a show if it doesn't bring in amazing ratings in the first half-season. Everyone seems to have forgotten that Seinfeld was a massive turkey for the first couple of seasons, but the fact that someone in the brass at NBC had faith in the show allowed the show grow into the juggernaut that it became. HBO had the same opportunity with Lucky Louie. It's unfair that the burden of proof as to whether a show is good or not lies on the mucky-mucks that are in charge of the financing and resource-allocation of the show. It should be compulsory that every show that gets picked up for a series is allowed to run for at least three seasons. Developing characters, writing dynamics, running gags; all of these are long term processes, and it's BS to except that any series is gonna have this down from the get-go.To all you networks and cable-outlets out there: give your series a f*cking chance before you pull the plug, goddamnit!
... View MoreThis show was absolutely painful to watch. It just wasn't funny. What is so funny about two parents who can not deal with their child? Let's see, we have the token black neighbors, the idiots that Louie works with, and a host of worthless characters. Reruns of All in the Family would provide twice the humor. HBO has been known for quality programming and somehow this slipped through the cracks. Even OZ had more humor in it. If the desire to watch this show enters into your brain, just go down to the local funeral parlor check out the dead bodies. Just because someone can do stand up doesn't mean the it will translate onto the screen. Don't waste your time
... View MoreI'd heard of Louis C.K. before seeing this show, but had never seen him perform, so I had no expectations going into this series. While the acting is pretty so-so across the board, the jokes are hitting better with every episode. But the real reason to watch this show is to see a sitcom without all of the embarrassing, touchy, taboo topics removed; and I don't mean that they have a 'someone takes drugs' episode, and hit you with some classic moralising tale for idiots. Every episode touches on subjects familiar to us all, without being sanitised.I enjoy this show not just for the comedy, but because it makes my own problems seem normal, which glossy, unrealistic shows can never do.
