Good story, Not enough for a whole film

n my opinion it was a great movie with some interesting elements, even though having some plot holes and the ending probably was just too messy and crammed together, but still fun to watch and not your casual movie that is similar to all other ones.

Go in cold, and you're likely to emerge with your blood boiling. This has to be seen to be believed.

One of the most extraordinary films you will see this year. Take that as you want.

Episode 1 is excellent but the slide towards FANTASY starts almost right away at episode 2. Overacting is the rule of the day and we move from situations that are unlikely to improbable....impossible....ridiculous and before 3 episodes have aired you might as well be aboard the Enterprise with Captain Kirk. This series is ONLY for the imagination-challenged...those who need to be spoon-fed their excitement in HUGE shovel-sized bites. I have ticked off spoilers but in reality it would be nearly impossible to 'spoil' this already severely damaged 'entertainment'. Truly I think this must be aimed at the teen and pre-teen market....those not yet aware of the realities of modern military codes and actions. If you think Halo and Call of Duty were realistic gaming then this is probably the perfect movie for you but for the rest of us...here in reality...pass this series up...you'll be glad you did.

Having seen the trailer, I already knew I shouldn't have expected a realistic military or geopolitical TV series. But the idea seemed OK and could have led to an entertaining plot. Instead there are so many gaps in the plot and unexplainable characters' behaviors that this show becomes unwatchable. Just one example: the sub captain start the first episodes as an honorable man, with great common sense. In fact, sensing something is going wrong, he refuse to annihilate most of Pakistan's population. 20 minutes later though, he's a self proclaimed dictator capable of detonate a nuclear warhead 200 miles from Washington DC (spreading radiations generously BTW). And just in the first episodes there are more of these things. Just too much...

USS Colorado is a nuclear sub and they are tasked to pick up a team Navy SEALs. Then they receive a strange questionable order to launch their nukes against Pakistan. Captain Marcus Chaplin (Andre Braugher) refuses the order to fire, and the US gov proclaims it a mutiny. After escaping an attack from another US sub, the crew and SEALs take refuge on a small island. It was a convoluted idea to start off with. It had all kinds of questions that remained unanswered. They nuked Pakistan and it's treated like an afterthought. It would probably be advisable to actually show the nuclear blasts over Pakistan. At least then it's not something that just happened off stage. But once they started at such a convoluted place, they had no where to go but add more and more complications. It's like a death spiral that they can't pull out of. They pull in the islanders, then an insurrection among the mutiny, then the Chinese and the Pakistanis. It's a big ball of crazy.

I've been waiting with anticipation for this series. At last, a show that has a true Tom Clancy feel about it. That is it was until I watched it.I understand that writers can take artistic licence especially when it comes to jam packing drama into 45 minutes. The obvious victims of this licence however is the attention to detail and the plot.Whilst I don't expect absolute accuracy, I would prefer the writers don't think their audience are complete idiots. There were holes in the plot that you could pilot Red October through and the script must have been scribbled in crayon as I don't think the writers would have been old enough to use an ink pen. They had something that could have been great but they turned into to a military flavoured ( loosely used term) Days of our Lives.*SPOILER ALERT* Where was the discipline of the sailors, why were the officers never on board, you can nuke you're own country but a two bit hood can't be dealt with, why were civilians in charge of a NATO outpost in the Pacific, why was the CO always crying and flying off the handle. I would expect more emotional stability from a person who is in charge of nuclear weapons, why was a White House aide allowed to make strategic decisions ( in fact her character had the most balls of the whole cast) and where the hell was the President in all of this. This show due to its lack of fundamental research has not only damaged the brand of the US Armed Forces but it also further demonstrates the growing contempt that the writers have for the viewing public.
