It really made me laugh, but for some moments I was tearing up because I could relate so much.

The tone of this movie is interesting -- the stakes are both dramatic and high, but it's balanced with a lot of fun, tongue and cheek dialogue.

The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.

Ok, firstly this is not a documentary. It is a television show. It is entertainment. It has a historical setting and context along with the events and characters. But some "liberties" are taken for the purpose of the story. If it will drive you mad that Clement was pope at the time the series begins, not Boniface then either get over it or watch something else.As a television show i think it's very well done. There are nice twists and turns, proper villains, and appropriate levels of violence. I had no issue with the acting or the script as some reviewers had. For me one of the signs of a good show is that i want to see what happens next. Check that. There is a consistent layer of mystery and suspense as to where this thing will take you and there are plenty of "i didnt see that coming" I gave it a 9, maybe i would have given it an 8 but i probably overcompensated a bit for the negative reviews which i considered to be unfair and not objective reflections of this as a historical fiction. Again, it's not a documentary.

Simply awful with a totally ridiculous story-line. I'm a history lover and have read many books on the subject of the Templars, so i really anticipated this serial and hoped i might enjoy. They actually paid someone to write such a ridiculous script?! i really was laughing at times, with what was going on in this serial. Very bad casting and acting as well. So bad that it became funny at times. i was even bursting in laughter in supposedly dramatic scenes! it's a DISASTER of a serial. i watched it till the end, simply to see how actually bad it was. and it really got from bad to worst.. After the last episode (which was probably the worst and most ridiculous of all) i cought myself thinking. "i actually wasted 10 hours of my life to watch this"?! So in order that no other intelligent people waste their time and nerves on this, i decided to write. I wouldn't recommend it, especially to real history lovers.

I honestly don't understand all the negative reviews. I'm wondering if there is some agenda going on here with all the negative reviews for this show, most of them claiming lack of historical accuracy. This is TV - as in FICTION - not a documentary! The show is very good and gets better and better with each episode. The final episode is excellent, and leaves a lot of intrigue open which I hope continues into a Second Season. There are a satisfying number of unexpected twists and turns. Sure, there is some predictability at times, but it doesn't take away from the entertaining value of the show. The costumes and scenery are excellent and believable. The acting is very good and believable. This is not Game of Thrones in terms of the number of utterly shocking twists and turns and highly intense character development. But then NOTHING out there is like Game of Thrones. I would say this is similar to Spartacus in terms of the drama, acting and action. Less violence than Spartacus. Also, there is no nudity in this because it is the History channel. But there is a good love story, and tension throughout, and good guys who do bad things and bad guys who do good things which keeps it from being simplistic. In terms of the historical accuracy - who cares? If you want historical accuracy then watch documentaries or read a pile of history books. If you want to watch dramatic period depictions with a few historical facts here and there and lots of fiction, drama and action, all in a believable period setting, then watch TV shows and movies. And this is a really good TV show!(So what's with all the critical reviews about the lack of historical accuracy?! It strikes me as extremely strange.)If you like period shows (I do) with intrigue, action and drama, then you are going to enjoy this show! Give it 4 episodes, you'll be hooked!I would have given this show an 8.5 but gave it an extra 1.5 stars to balance out the extremely heavy-handed and suspect multiple negative reviews.I'm looking forward to Season 2 of this show and would really like to see it continue!

This is an incredibly powerful subject torn to pieces by poor writing and mediocre acting and a lowly budget which shows. I can let the historical inaccuracies slip, things such as replacing one minister with another, wrong years when everything happened, heck, even replacing Jacques de Molay with a youthful bearded hipster with no morals and a sex life despite his vows and status. What I cannot accept is turning one of the best and most coherent French kings come out as a babbling indecisive idiot and a solid marriage, which historically resulted in 7 children as being a sham with a cheating Queen of France. No king's daughter would throw fits and refuse alliances requested by her father either. The fact that Knightfall tried to suggest the whole country's politics was influenced by the whims of a teenager, through the influence of a mother withholding sex with the king to get the marriage she intends for her daughter is absurd. I believe it can be mildly entertaining for someone with no knowledge or interest in historical accuracy, and, although beautiful, the sets are small and limited and that is visible. The budget affected the end result on this one. There are also many other clear absurdities present in the movie such as Asian assassins or organized Saracens raiding through Paris at their own leisure. Simply absurd, an attempt to please everyone and be politically correct with aspects that are too far from reality. A 'Wonder Woman' queen that suddenly leaves the city without her husband to go to war when 5 months pregnant, for a fief she never set foot in before is one of the biggest absurdities found in this series. If you can ignore all of the above then perhaps the show is watchable. Quality is far far below Vikings and History channel should have quit while they were ahead. This was unexpectedly poor quality and inaccurate for them. Overall destroyed a very powerful topic.
