Fanciful, disturbing, and wildly original, it announces the arrival of a fresh, bold voice in American cinema.

I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.

The film may be flawed, but its message is not.

Watched the whole things cuz once I'm enticed to start a Syfy series I can't stop. Won't be biting on any season 2 bait though. The title of this show should be The Impulse to Rape, or perhaps, the Impulse to Sexually Assault. Though clearly no one would watch it then. The subject is treated sometimes honestly, insightfully, sensitively, but mostly - Progressively. As is the case with almost all drama whose primary objective is the selling of a political point of view and retraining the masses, the art suffers. Actors do their best with the preachy lines and 2 dimensionally motivated characters. If you and yours are of the ilk that needs, "to be taught not to rape", this is as painless a vehicle as any. Otherwise this fails, or is at best mediocre fare, for all the genres, teen angst, syfy, superhero, etc. it purports to be about.

This show is way too boring, there's just not much going on, characters are uninteresting, the story's dull. Honestly I can't think of any part of it I enjoyed.

Characters for the most part are likeable and relatable. Story writing is good..Saw a bad review saying u dont see alot space jumping.. i like that keeps the build up till those moments. If youve seen most good shows and understands what makes one..you will enjoy.

I don't think the creators of Impulse were trying to be particularly subtle in what this series is doing, but I don't think they need to be. It's still a smart and creative way to tackle a timely issue. I'm not a fan of high school melodrama (and there's definitely aspects of that), but there's still a lot here for adults who enjoy intelligent sci-fi tangled up in believable everyday life. It's moody and beautifully shot, the script is well-written, the soundtrack is great, and the acting is generally fantastic (with perhaps one notable exception being Sarah Desjardins as Jenna, who I think must have gone to the Neve Campbell school of acting). Maddie as the lead is brilliant, although her character is unlikable more often than likeable . If the writers could perhaps steer her a little further away from the bratty end of the teenage spectrum, the show might not turn so many people off?Enuka Okuma consistently gives stand-out performances as the deputy, and David James Elliot gives us a complex and 3 dimensional villain.
