I really wanted to like this movie. I feel terribly cynical trashing it, and that's why I'm giving it a middling 5. Actually, I'm giving it a 5 because there were some superb performances.

There is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes

Hunted was from the stable of the creators of Spooks and from one of the writer's of The X Files. At one point it was going to be a starring vehicle for Gillian Anderson but Australian actress Melissa George took the starring role. She is competent, kicks ass for the action scenes but Gillian would had brought something extra special to the screen. That is more that can be said for the writing and producing team. The BBC might had been better off with another series of Spooks rather than this tedious series with not too exciting stories and a central arc that rapidly lost viewers interest.Patrick Malahide gives a fine scenery chewing performance as the villain but everyone else, especially some of the male actors walk around the screen in some blank, pompous, pseudo serious manner. The series should had been fast paced and fun.Hunted more stunted.

++May contain Spoilers++I will keep this brief. As i don't write a lot of reviews. I recorded this and within a year i have started watching it from Ep1 for the 3rd time. Usually unheard of for me. As i seldom watch anything twice yet alone 3 times. The series is fantastic i believe from start to finish. It is intelligent writing, intrigueing plots & compelling viewing. I am familiar with Melissa George as she is an Australian so i have seen her face a few times on some Australain shows. But this is for sure the best work i have seen her do. If she left Australia to improve herself then she has done that. I was quite surprised to see only an average rating of 6.9 on IMDb for this show. I love it. I love the plot, the intrigue, the interwoven themes. I also am a love or Spooks and the term Hourglass is mentioned in a couple of episodes of Spooks - and it is as if this whole show is an extension of other operations in Spooks - this operation taken a life of its own. It is quite clever how the two shows inter-relate.I do hope this production team and writers put out a series of these shows.

Just watched the last episode and it was gripping to the poetic end.Whilst its a bit Lara Croft and of course dwells in the realms of spy fantasies, its holds the human touch reasonably well all through. The characters are well acted and realistically... or should I say literary, complex without all having to be revealed. Some of the lines are cheesy, but I think you have to see that somewhat as understated Brit humour, the kind of humour that would happen in real life in high drama. The only downside for me was it was too fast paced at times, for me I mean. There was a fair amount of "chill time" in the series, though I'd like to see more day to day stuff, more of the human touch, though I'm not one for fast action movies at all, so for its genre I'd say it was spot on.I hope we're not fed an identical twin of a second series. I can see there is potential for it to reach another level if the script writers are bold.Enjoy!

I thoroughly enjoyed this show. I watched all the episodes and found the tension built nicely from episode to episode. One of the things I like about watching BBC shows is it seems they don't guard the main characters like they do in the United States. With U. S. shows you can assume no matter what happens to the main character or characters each episode, they will survive to be around for a second season, even if there isn't one. With shows like Misfits and Being Human, the plot is king and anyone can be killed off at any time. So, when I walk into a show like Hunted, I have no expectations that any of these people will be around next season. This increases a shows tension enormously. For me that makes for a completely different viewing experience than I'm used to and it's very refreshing.
