I like movies that are aware of what they are selling... without [any] greater aspirations than to make people laugh and that's it.

But that's the very reason people are gonna hate it: because it's different. And that's not fair. The acting is great, even from the children cast, the cinematography is good too. Almost looks like a movie. Everything is good. If you're a Batman fan and you're open to a new story, you'll love this

From the nods to the films and comics, the intended misdirection of what era does this show belong to, the superb acting, especially by Cory Michael Smith and Robin Lord Taylor, as The Riddler and Penguin, respectively, to what we needed all along, how did Bruce Wayne come to be Batman, this is an epic show that deserves more than just 10 more episodes. Gotham needs another chance at a new network. Fox did not do them justice.

Season 1 was a solid 9 with strong characters and storylines that did not in any way go against what is to be expected from fans.Season 2 grew what season 1 started with expanding with new characters but started to pit Gordon against Batman villians but not in a way that made them seem like they themselves could not grow to require a Batman to stop them. Again a solid 9.Season 3 started to take odd turns, connecting female characters in a "we need to stick together because patriarchy and how much men suck" and marred an otherwise excellent season with even more new characters that fit the Batman EU.This new season however took what was an otherwise excellent season and went full tilt WTF by making the League of Assassins look like a bunch of wussies, all of the men killed by a few female characters because all men are weak and it was time for a female lead, one that a male assassin said could never lead...a story that was so pointless and just plain horrible seeing as how the league is led by a woman longer in the Batman timeline than a man...all meshed in several other smaller stories of female victimization nonsense that dragged the overall storyline into the dirt.Sad, Season 4 gets a 6, barely and im near the point of no longer watching the show which will leave only Black Lightning and The Flash that I have not given up on due to the horrible push of SJW nonsense into the DC shows.EDITED to add new info having seen the last 4 episodes of Season 4. What was a great ending to the season was once again marred by the plague of social justice attitudes ruining the DC universe of shows with a resounding "Everything is the fault of men, time for a man free zone" proclamation by a now all female gang that is clearly set to target men and all while taking the name of a group that actually exists in the Batman series, The Sirens! This horrible change in story has made this the final episode I will watch of this series. Only The Flash and Black Lightning have so far manage to escape the touch of real world social politics which has no place at all in movies and tv shows that are meant to transport us into another world/existence.What a horrible waste of a good show. Lowering my rating for Season 4 from a 6 to a 3 for breaking immersion and making such a massive change to the Batman world.

I'd been procrastinating to watch this show because I didn't like the fact that it was focused more on Jim Gordon and the villains rather than the early years of Bruce Wayne, but once I saw the first few episodes on Netflix, I was hooked. It is pretty good so far. Not as good as Smallville's first couple of seasons, but it's better than Supergirl, Arrow and The Flash combined. I think the biggest drawback is that they don't give young Bruce enough scenes...I mean come on this is called Gotham for Pete's sake. Also introducing Selina Kyle with her nickname being Cat is kind of another drawback because unless Bruce develops Smallville anemsia (lol), he's going to figure out real quick who Catwoman is when they become their iconic alteregos. Everything else is pretty solid. The acting is not too much except for Jada Pinkett's performance at times is a bit much but I really enjoy watching her character as well...I feel like in some of her scenes she's trying to embody Earth Kitt as Catwoman somewhat in her voice at times which can be annoying but overall she does a really good performance as Fish Mooney and Penguin does a really great performance in his role. I would highly reccommend anyone who loves DC comics or just like watching crime driven shows in general to watch this because it's not as bad as some have made it out to be and its actually the piece that has been missing from TV since Smallville wrapped up in 2011.
