if their story seems completely bonkers, almost like a feverish work of fiction, you ain't heard nothing yet.

I enjoyed watching this film and would recommend other to give it a try , (as I am) but this movie, although enjoyable to watch due to the better than average acting fails to add anything new to its storyline that is all too familiar to these types of movies.

The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.

Great movie. Not sure what people expected but I found it highly entertaining.

I gave this show entire season's worth a benefit of the doubt. What I saw was a dull, super grim, ultra nihilistic, cliched and joyless excercise in tedium that made me dislike it more with each episode. Nearly every damn character is an irredeemable one dimensional piece of trash and an imbecile to boot. The only possible enjoyment there is to get out of this is seeing them murdered. But of course, the biggest scumbag is left standing by the end of first season thanks to all his enemies conveniently acting like complete morons. This show is not interested in saying anything new about the life it depicts, it only follows same tired cliches of predictable betrayals. It amazes me that so many people think this trash is anywhere close to quality of "The Sopranos", let alone it being better.

This TV show has exceeded much more my expectations. I heard about it from a friend but never expected it to be that good. It simply puts you deep inside the Italian mafia clans and ghettos day-to-day life, operations, killings etc. It is very catchy that whenever I finished an episode, I was eager to start the following one. It is nothing like a copy of other gangster's series. It is very unique and has its original touch. You get to have an overview of the Italian organized crime scene and I personally found it realistic enough most of the times not to even question if it's still a show. I highly recommend it. Try it, it does not disappoint.

Stunning, brutal, gritty, merciless & superb acting (so many British Dramas fail because you are so aware they are ACTING!) This is a worthy mini series to carry on from the sublime "Spiral" if you are are looking for a proper drama to follow... Will I ever recover from the spectacular "Breaking Bad"? Probably not, but hope springs eternal

It has complexity, the cinematography is good and a great deal of effort has gone into making this series, but it has its shortcomings. There are certain common denominators involved with someone's coming up through (or traveling down through) the criminal underworld and it's just not possible for a film-maker to maintain continuity in this respect. Of course, the people who were chosen to bill this series are actors... and you can spot that a mile off for reasons too complex to go into. So, I'd say it's worth investigation this, but a word of warning - at some point the terrible direction with respect to scoring this series is going to hit you. Apparently there are new series in production, well I trust that the people involved in Gomorrah have done their due diligence, watched it all through from start to finish prior to post, and thought "This music with the four piano chords over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over... and over... and over... again... sometimes multiple times in each episode? That's a bit of an oversight. Perhaps we should employ some variation with the music."Or better yet, abandon the music. There's nothing worse than commandeering and shallow attempts to steer the viewers' emotions through the use of music. Look at Serpico, great film, not a piece of music in the whole film besides the one scene where the Director wanted it to matter. Sidney Lumet made the music matter in that film. In Gomorrah its creators make the music torture. Why it would take an aspiring film-maker from the arse-end of this planet to point this out in an IMDb review, goodness knows.Six stars and likely to drop if future offerings show that this mistake hasn't been noticed.See my 'Greats' list (which this series didn't make) here - http://www.imdb.com/list/ls033515993/?st_dt=&mode=detail&page=1&sort=list_order,asc
