A Disappointing Continuation

Very good movie overall, highly recommended. Most of the negative reviews don't have any merit and are all pollitically based. Give this movie a chance at least, and it might give you a different perspective.

Watching it is like watching the spectacle of a class clown at their best: you laugh at their jokes, instigate their defiance, and "ooooh" when they get in trouble.

This is what it feels like to co-parent with a covert narcissist. In spite of all good intentions loose-loose is the only likely result to come out of your efforts

This doesn't really contain spoilers but does in terms of character development a bit. Every good story needs a protagonist you want to root for even if their actions are dark... but Gemma I so badly wanted to root for and just makes you dislike her more and more. There's also the cheesy parts like in ending of season 1. I actually can't believe I'm watching season 2. I can get into the idea that the character is a warning about how not letting go can make you into this person but I don't like most of the characters. I think the person wirh the most character development is acatually the Kate who has a minor role. Soap opera is the beat way to describe it. I hope there's some more character development and redemption.

Its awful. Boring. After season one it just plods along with same old, same old. Husband and Wife hate each other, manipulate each other and use son as a weapon. By the second season, which I am sorry I finished, I just wanted all the characters to go away. The acting is passable, for awhile, but the dad is ridiculously bad, the son's expression never changes. I cannot figure out how it won any nominations or how it could possible be rated as high as it is. Acting bad, plot non existent and suspense completely absent. Go ahead, ignore me, then come back when its over and do a review.

We did hang in there to finish this series but it was really bad, in every way. The main characters were absolutely vile and inconsistent. People with responsible important jobs acted like they worked part time in high school, bouncing in and out and all around. Continuity was confusing and actions were inconsistent, the main character, Gemma, walks at night to a house in the country that during the daytime was a long drive! She then walks back to the center of town where she hails a cab to take her home. People sold their houses with nary any notice and same houses were occupied in a day or two with new owners. The main purpose of Gemma's life seems to be the destruction of her ex-husband, who in flash backs seems to be the light of her life! Gemma moves out of town as far as a hotel on the edge Gemma brews up a suicide potion for Simon and then at breakfast discusses this with him in front of their son, Tom. All I can say about this that may be hopeful is that I hope the writer of this miserable piece of trash has successfully exorcized what must be some demons from a horrible child hood.
