I enjoyed both seasons of 'CSI: Cyber.' I worked in programming, I know the sloppy mistakes that slip through the lack of security in a company - and I know that this is boring, boring, boring! 'CSI: Cyber' accomplished taking an intriguing area of crime, called Cyber Crime, and making it interesting by focusing on not only the crimes but the people who work in the field of cyber crime detection and the victims. What is so surprising is that this series was inspired by the character of a true life worker fighting cyber crime. Dr. Mary Aiken is an Irish cyber psychologist who blends the field of behavioral psychology with detection of cyber crime. To me, she is not unlike, in her appearance, a somewhat youthful Patricia Arquette! The infant abductions in the first episode are taken from the real life case of these in Houston. I vaguely remember that Aiken consulted on that case. I know she consulted on this series, and shared ideas for the plots. This stuff is serious. As serious as it is, it is something you learn to appreciate. Then you just want to learn about it. A television show that gives you information? Makes it so much more palatable. I have both seasons of the series. Now, my appetite is whetted, helped by my husband's constant warnings that our data can be hacked - until now, I have not paid him much attention. Now, I'm watching 'Outlaw Tech' which is about cyber crime but lacks all the plot and actors of 'CSI: Cyber.' It's more of a documentary type series. Fascinating. Every episode so far would make a fine series (not an episode, a series!) and it is tech, tech, and more tech!

This is a thinking person's show. But that's why it will fail. It's not a stupid "faux" reality TV show. And there are a lot of haters, because Arquette dared to suggest that women should be paid the same as a man. The jerks who think we women need to stay in our place, will try and bring it down, including this network. Hopefully, some network will pick it up, if it is cancelled. I actually have to pay attention to this show when it's on. It's worth watching, if you have a brain. If you like mindless fluff, don't watch. I really hope it is given another season. There are not too many shows on TV that make you think anymore.

It is a rare occurrence to see a movie portray the use of technology in either a believable way, or in a non-boring way. In this case it is as terrible as you can imagine.Arquette showed her best acting in the series Medium. However here she is less than credible as the leader of a cyber crime unit than as a psychic. James Van Der Beek as a police officer? I tried and tried but couldn't get over his Dawson days. The worst offender here is Lil Bow Wow. Yes the teenage rapper Bow Wow as a "geek".The other two actors portraying the geeks are even worse because of how laughably bad they look. An overweight neckbeard and the bleach-blonde latina, who both parrot the most ridiculous lines."Setting a fire through the internet"?! Seriously? Not only are the writers technologically deficient, they also insult the regular audience intelligence with over the top flashy graphics that do NOT serve the story telling. Instead they're annoying and unfunny. At some point, you see Bow Wow and the words on screen give his internet username and "ex black hacker". The writers may have wanted to write "ex black hat hacker" but the slip made me laugh. Just one more stupid example of how bad this show is.

My 4 out of 10 is just because the show is so dull that becomes ridiculous and therefore entertaining.Only pro, is the soundtrack. Now the cons:Actors are good as such, but there is no chemistry, no connection, no credibility in their interaction. They are acting and you see it clearly. Nothing to compare with the other CSI series. Not even a facade of realism in the plot and in the IT related parts (which should be the biggest part and therefore the most realistic ones). OK, the other CSIs had dramatizations and went some times 'beyond' reality, but here is astonishing how many things they got wrong, overlooked or simply invented. My recommendation : invite your IT skilled friends at your place, made them watch CSI cyber and enjoy their reactions!
