A brilliant film that helped define a genre

a film so unique, intoxicating and bizarre that it not only demands another viewing, but is also forgivable as a satirical comedy where the jokes eventually take the back seat.

If you like to be scared, if you like to laugh, and if you like to learn a thing or two at the movies, this absolutely cannot be missed.

This movie feels like it was made purely to piss off people who want good shows

After six episodes, I still have no idea what is going on. The first episode was good, then it started it's slow roll downhill. I don't care about any of the characters except the somewhat psychic neighbor. Lots of hype. Unfortunately doesn't nearly live up to it or what was expected.Reminds me of Westworld and Sharp Objects. Both of these shows just ramble on and one without any clear path or direction. Not for me.

Been watching every episode so far, and for the life of me can't figure out what the hell the plot is even suppose to be. They were obviously trying to go for a darker version of Twin Peaks, except the characters in Castle Rock aren't interesting at all. And the main character is stiff as a board. The only interesting character was the young prison guard, who of course got killed off. And the whole advertisement about Kings novels being incorporated into the story is false, they're more like easter eggs. I guess if you're a fan of the King novels where it takes forever to get to the point, then you may like it. But if you like to be at the edge of your seat like me, this show may not be for you.

I like to call it "name drop, the series". The only thing that it has to do with King's work so far, I'm up to episode 6, are character names and place names as well as mention of things like the body being found by the railroad track, the rabid dog attacking people, and they keep mentioning a forest fire that may be a reference to the end of Tommyknockers. There are others but you get the point. Very little strange happens until episode 5, episode 6 definitely heads down the strange road but the stranger events obviously have nothing to do with King stories I'm familiar with, it may be books and stories I haven;t read but I doubt it because none of it feels like King to me. Sadly if they took out all the King references I'd like the series better. It's slick and well produced with solid actors and several exceptional ones. Bill Skarsgard is extremely creepy but it's also obvious his character has nothing to do with Pennywise. Not exactly a spoiler but to me Skarsgard character makes me think more of characters like Flag, the dark man causing chaos also like in Needful Things as well as other stories. There's no direct tie in to the chaos type characters King had, Storm of the Century had a similar character. Skarsgard so far has little dialogue unlike most of the King characters. In fact I think we were several episodes in before his character spoke and even by episode 6 his dialogue is minimal at best. Adds to the creepiness though. Take away all the King references and I;d have given it a 7 or 8 but they lost a couple of points by name dropping King stories all the time. It's worth your time and seems to get creepier as it goes but don;t expect pieces of king stories as we were lead to believe. Sorry but referring to Cujo isn;t the same and working it into the story. It's a little like doing a version of the Walking Dead where characters mention about zombies the next town over but they never show actual zombies and they never threaten the town the story is centered in. It feels like a rip off like that would be. You feel cheated because King is constantly dangled but you aren;t allowed to look or touch so what's the point?

J.J. Abrams, remember "LOST"? The same bull... I bet that we must watch another two or three seasons to find out what is really happening, I´m not that patient. I like the cast, the atmosphere, is above my expectations but c´mon, give us something solid. It is like a puzzle, and the pieces are all missing. I will watch the whole chapters but if the mess keeps goes on, I must stop watch.
