... View MoreOne of the film's great tricks is that, for a time, you think it will go down a rabbit hole of unrealistic glorification.
... View MoreI remember being really excited for this as I was and still am a huge Frank Skinner fan and even after all these years, I still watch the whole series at least once a year it was ahead of its time with the location shots no canned laughter etc ,how this hasn't got a DVD release is beyond me. Frank is a very good actor and should really have had a more varied acting career ,maybe his Doctor Who role will get him more opportunities. If you haven't seen this I'd recommend it even if it's just for Prems words of wisdom.Great Sitcom .
... View MoreI recently watched all six episodes of Blue Heaven, and really enjoyed them. The whole thing has a very subtle style, which is very down to earth, but with an eccentric streak running through it that makes everything really fun. Frank Skinner really impressed me, as did his sidekick Conleth Hill. The two worked really well together. Add an excellent supporting cast to the mix and you are spoilt with acting talent. The stories range from good, to very good, and there are many memorable scenes. I laughed, giggled, and really enjoyed the humour. The whole production has a distinct atmosphere and feel. There is something truly brilliant about it all, but sadly.. for whatever reasons, it didn't find success.Overall.. it's a must-watch. If only a second series had been made.
... View MoreThis was one of the best shows ever. Frank Skinner I feel is at his best acting, his talk shows etc are funny but BH hasn't been topped. The supporting cast are prefect including his 'cowing' mother. I really hoped they would make more of these but no, so maybe now is a good time to start filming "what ever happened to Blue Heaven?"
... View MoreThis was an absolutely brilliant show, first piloted by the UK's Channel 4 in 1992, and then becoming a six-part series in 1994.It's weird, but this series has only been re-run once since then, and has never made it to video or DVD-which is pretty strange as Frank has gone onto become one of British TV's biggest and funniest stars.Anyway, Frank here plays Frank Sandford, a likeable Birmingham lad who's in a useless amateur band called 'Blue Heaven', alongside his Irish friend Roache. He chases unreachable women, he argues with his common parents, he gets confused bits of philosophy from an elderly Asian chap who follows him about-it's a meandering but realistic and fun show, very unfairly neglected by Channel 4 over the years. As they say down the Carson Club-"It's A Cracker"
