This is a must-see and one of the best documentaries - and films - of this year.

A movie that not only functions as a solid scarefest but a razor-sharp satire.

The joyful confection is coated in a sparkly gloss, bright enough to gleam from the darkest, most cynical corners.

Dr. George Coleman (Justin Kirk) is the top veterinarian at Crane Animal Hospital in New York. His ex Dorothy Crane (JoAnna Garcia) inherits the business and becomes his new boss. There's also a monkey.I can't decide if this was way too stupid or not stupid enough. Maybe an over the top parody isn't expected to work on the networks and that's why they held back some. But if you put a monkey as a main character, you might as well go all the way. I love the actors here. If not for them, I'd probably never watch this. It didn't help that NBC advertised it so hard. It was never going to be a broad based hit.

The current average score for this show is 5.4 which seems somewhat unfair considering 'How I Met Your Mother' has a 8.5 average score and should have been put to rest a long time ago.Animal Practice is showing on ITV2 in the UK and has a good time slot of 8pm and deservingly so. It arrived on this channel without much fanfare and I caught sight of it during a channel flick and was lucky to catch the pilot in a re-run slot.I have not seen anything else of Justin Kirk's work but I like his performance in this. His timing and delivery tread a suitable caustic between the comedy and mild drama elements of the show. I particularly liked the episode where we got to visit his relationship with his mother.Tyler Labine is a favourite comedy foil from other shows like Reaper and Invasion. His goofball approach is its useful sharp self here and he and Kirk play off each other well. The lack of any hint of a laugh track also helps the watcher also make their own judgment on what works and what doesn't and I find myself laughing at the intended point with ease. The final icing on the cake for me is the comedic use of 'Dr' Rizzo. Is this character what got the show cancelled? Is there too much reliance on Rizzo? Maybe, but I can't say that seven episodes in Rizzo grates on me. In fact I enjoy the Rizzo moments greatly.I see that the show got canned after eight episodes in the US, ITV2 will at least be showing all thirteen and I will be watching until the end.7/10.

At last !!! A new comedy show with a TWIST !!! After watching almost any new comedy show for the past 3 years, it's nice to see a fast witted comedy like Animal Practice. I know how hard is it to build a cast that "flows" with one another and punch a line after line, But this show seems like something with LOT of potential. I love the nurses with the attitude, And the fact that almost everyone has its own strong personality, Although flawed :) Although I'm not a fashion guy - The main female character (Dorothy Crane) Dresses REALLY well (She changes several outfits in each episode and every one of them is WOW!). Anyway I hope for all involved to "Break a leg" and to continue to provide us with a unique comedy as this one seems to be.

Justin Kirk seemingly reprises his Andy Botwin-esque role as a quippy, flighty and sarcastic Veterinary Doctor. Though not exactly the same character, if nothing but slightly less impetuous, he definitely still has a very similar flavor. Joanna García-Swisher seemed a bit generic, but I think her character has the most potential for growth and would be exciting to see the "will they/won't they" tug-of-war between the two. Bobby Lee seems similar to Ken Jeong's character in Community to where he is really just there to be silly, slightly crazy and maybe even a bit of a racial stereotype. Tyler Labine, who has had some awesome roles in the past (see: Reaper, Tucker & Dale vs. Evil,) seems to be taking on a bit more serious of a role this time around. His character was the most believable to me.All in all, I liked the show. I feel the characters will have enough of a dynamic to result in some pretty funny scenarios. I think there's plenty of potential for zingers and quick-lipped witticisms, and there will be plenty of room to mold each character as the storyline progressesAll of the other reviews basically say "this show sucks" without giving any sort of actual reason behind their review. I'll admit, I'm basing my review off the pilot alone. This show could go either way, but I see potential.
