This syndicated tv show was not intended to ape the movie. It's a nice little action show and it's too bad more stations didn't pick it up. Lonzo has had at least 2 syndicated series fail since the long running "Renegade". It's too bad, he is a creditable "B" actor.

Alright, so most people are at least saying that this was a bad show and at the very most it was the worst they have ever seen. But I can honestly say that this show was OK and even pretty good at times. The acting may not have been the best, but even if it was as bad as most suggest, you can at least laugh at it for the amount of effort the actors put into it. Actually that was why I ever watched it, to be entertained by how bad the show was. The show had a few hot chicks in bikinis and certainly had pretty slick looking guys in it too, particurlarly Wyley Ferrel. The best episode by far was the one that guest starred Branscombe Richmond or better known as Bobby Sixkiller from the Renegade. The way he tries to take control of the Costa Peridia coastline by beating the natives up was just hilarous. Then the feel good factor hits in with Rio Arnett challenging him to a fight for the future of Costa Peridia. Other than that episode, I never really took note of the storylines mainly because they were quite crap. The series ended with something about Rio Arnett's long lost father and I'd say the show hit rock bottom at that point. I really enjoyed the opening intro scene mainly because it was so cheesly American with many big explosions. Of course, Air America wasn't as good as Renegade and it may have damaged Lorenzo Lama's reputation, but at least he can certainly reflect upon his days in Air America that was shot in such tropical and exotic locations.

Now, I'll admit that my tastes, and standards for TV programming have gone down a bit over the years, but I honestly liked Air America: The Series. Despite the fact that it uses a movie title, and had no relation whatsoever to the movie; it was a good low-budget action show that I actually saw every Saturday. I was also disappointed when it went off the air, especially when it was replaced by the Relic Hunter. Now that IS a damn $#!tty show if I've ever seen one!Personally, I think that TV programming on Saturday nights should be really cheesy. And Air America fit in nicely with Acapulco Heat, Pensacola: Wings of Gold, Baywatch Hawaii, and Walker: Texas Ranger.

I can't believe some networks actually allow this kind of rubbish to be shown on TV. You could describe this show with one simple word: BAD. The people who do this show must be in some desperate need of money. First of all the writing for this show is so bad, you would think that the scripts for Baywatch were written by Shakespeare himself. Even the action sequences in this so called action show cheaply done that you start to wonder where's all the money going. Maybe on those terrible CGI effects, like trying to create a jungle around the airfield.I just got one thing to say, don't waste your time on this, 'cos you'll never get it back!!!!!
