This show is ridiculous. A minister who is against lying yet lies to people in just about every episode, as does his wife, his children and all their friends. No one is perfect but the level of lying in this family is beyond insane. The men in this show cower before their wives & girlfriends, it is pathetic to watch. They start the show off as if the kids are intelligent & insightful, then as time goes on they literally become complete morons whose only purpose seems to be to gratify their immediate wants. Watching the reruns this last couple months and finally at the last season, I think the last straw was when Ruthie attempted to read a Bible and was totally clueless on how to read it or what anything in it meant at age 16. I have never met a minister who did not teach their kids about the Bible. So here we have a so called man of God who never even bothered to teach his children about God's word. And as time goes on the writers decided to turn Lucy into a blathering angry attacking lunatic while her husband cowers before her doing her bidding, like all the other women in this show. I have to question how someone like that could possibly call themselves a minister. Nothing in this show makes sense, they jump from one thing to another and the only consistent things are the lying, the lack of manners (not one person knows how to say goodbye when talking on the phone, they just hang up which I found very weird). All the time preaching about a Godly life while they go about lying, sneaking around, fighting over the most trivial things. There is no consistency in their characters. Nothing is believable. What a mess!

This show began really well, actually. I would highly recommend the first 3 seasons, especially season 2 episode 17.Personally, I am a preacher's kid, and I think the show (in the beginning) presented an accurate, albeit accelerated, view of a pastor's family life. It really is like that, just maybe not all at once, every single week. However, after a while (maybe somewhere around the fifth season) this show started to get more and more ridiculous. Reasonable, stable characters became more wildly emotional than they were before. The plots tried to hang on, but after a while the writers must have succumbed to the pressure of being a night drama on the WB (now CW).That said, you will be interested to know that Jessica Biel started on this show. Oh yeah, and I found the youngest daughter to be consistently annoying from beginning to end. lol.

7th Heaven is about the Camdens, an ideal family (yes, a mom and a dad still together) with seven children. Each 7th Heaven's episodes deals with a controversial theme or issue which in turn the family itself deals with such as bullying, homelessness, drug abuse, racism and so much morePastor Eric Camden (Stephen Collin's) leads the Glen Oak Community Church in Glen Oak, California. His wife Annie is played by Catherine Hicks, and each of the children are named after a name in the Bible except for Lucy. The children are as follows: Barry Watson plays Matt, Jessica Biel is Mary, Beverly Mitchell is Lucy, David Gallagher plays Simon, Mackenzie Rozman plays Ruthie and Lorenzo Brino plays one of the twins David, and Nikolas Brino plays the other twin Sam. 7th Heaven depicts a believing Christian family (I know, the atheists are fuming!) and their children and diversity of age gaps between the children as older siblings leave home sooner. When I was younger I used to watch this with my family after work, and so I especially like this show because of that. The series is the longest running series of twenty-two episodes which is longer than Little House on the Prairie. The series was produced by Spelling Television and was shown on The WB and for the last season renewed on The CW. 7th Heaven is a family favourite and when I was young I looked up to Stephen Collins as a good role model and guide in getting to the heart of life's matters. It's nice to see pastors portrayed as friendly, effective and faithful.

"7th Heaven" came about not long after the WB network launched. There are good parts to it while I only lasted 2 seasons or 3 then had enough. The Camden family are an idyllic bunch who manage to solve every problem in an episode or the one after. There's a line between ethical and uptight and this family is the latter. I had enough of the heavy lecturing. I don't remember if I watched when a whole show made a big deal about one of the daughters (Mary) smoking! Like the world was going to end or something. That could have been one of many reasons Jessica Biel rebelled against her Mary Camden character off-screen by taking racy magazine pictures (Gear), then eventually left. Now Biel is the only former cast member still heard about.
