I wanted to like it more than I actually did... But much of the humor totally escaped me and I walked out only mildly impressed.

A film with more than the usual spoiler issues. Talking about it in any detail feels akin to handing you a gift-wrapped present and saying, "I hope you like it -- It's a thriller about a diabolical secret experiment."

"I am not necessarily the biggest fan of love story or family type films so you can imagine my surprise when I finished watching YOU and realized I absolutely loved it. With it's beautiful lighting, set design and production colors I was instantly offered an abundance of eye candy. The acting and overall feel of the film was so beautiful and poetic. I had stretched out on my bed to watch YOU in perfect comfort and recall feeling so completely fulfilled once it was finished I could do nothing more other than lay there and let its warmth fill me up. It really offers a satisfaction and appreciation of all the people in your life who are in your circle of family and friends. I had to stop and absorb that, just let it hug me, thanks to this film. What a great feeling that is! I love the story behind the making of YOU and how it came to be. Melora and Gildart are a fantastic couple and great production team. It's even more poignant knowing that in the film industry there is now another woman director making well thought out and gorgeous films. I can't recommend this movie enough!""The first thing a lover of film sees in YOU is that it's universal cinema as opposed to U.S. product and could stand on it's own in any language, in any country.""You is a beautifully made film by very talented, professional and success driven producers and actors. They put their souls into creating a film that touches the deepest part of us as mothers, fathers, daughters, sons, spouses, grandparents and humans. Anyone who has ever loved will love this film. An intimate, raw piece that was written by the heart, filmed with passion and premiered with good old-fashioned work ethic. This film is only the beginning--the best is yet to come!""Witnessed a beautiful idea turn into a quality film in an unbelievably short time. Visual perspective and depth of screenplay woven together in a truly emotionally charged pattern to produce an enviable result.""This is a touching story that the entire family can enjoy together. If you haven't seen the movie yet, GET OUT and see it or purchase it. It's a wonderful DVD to have in your home collection. It will make you laugh, cry and cherish those you love most. "YOU" is a great gift to give to anyone you love. I highly recommend the movie!! Melora Hardin & Gildart Jackson are AMAZING actors, people and friends! Don't miss your chance to see this phenomenal movie!!""The movie is great and showcases the wonderful talents of its two stars as actors, writers, producers, and director. I would recommend this to anyone who has lost another loved one - or anyone who is part of the human circus we call life.""My family and I truly loved everything about this movie. It is a beautiful inspirational story about never ending love and starting over. Congratulations on a wonderful film the whole family can watch together!"

It's a melodramatic tear-jerker of a film, but considering the almost non-existent budget, it's quite remarkable. However, it doesn't stand up to Hollywood-class scrutiny. The sound needs another pass; the pacing is slow through much of the first reel and some other places; there are some scenes that could be re-ordered to hold viewer interest more powerfully; and there's an absolutely atrocious story choice involving a relationship with a therapist that gets lightly brushed aside. Still, the fact that the film was made at all, and the fact that there are some really great ideas, characters, and story moments makes it worth watching.
