If the conflict in Bosnia has become something of a forgotten war, it's not for the want of trying from the immensely powerful BBC film Warriors, the story of five young soldiers and their harrowing experiences in the region.

Each character in this movie — down to the smallest one — is an individual rather than a type, prone to spontaneous changes of mood and sometimes amusing outbursts of pettiness or ill humor.

Ok... Let's be honest. It cannot be the best movie but is quite enjoyable. The movie has the potential to develop a great plot for future movies

While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.

This was by far the best made-for-TV movie I have ever seen.Totally politically (in)correct in its rightful criticism of the rules of engagement of the UN 'peacekeepers' mandate in the Bosnian war, this movie boldly goes on to depict the harsh reality of what the war was really like and what it was about. For somebody who has intimate first-hand knowledge of the happenings, of the people involved and of the land where it transpired, I cannot but be awed by the realism and truthfulness of this film. Everything has been done perfectly, right down to the local actors who are all faithfully who they claim to be, real Bosnians, speaking with their local colloquial accents, not just some second-hand stand-ins summoned from god knows where on the cheap, as is usually the case nowadays. Everything in this movie is outstanding, the Direction, the screenplay, the cinematography, the acting, etc.A very powerful movie, but definitely not for those squeamish politically correct souls who abound today and who believe that the world is a peaceful, wonderful place where there is no evil and where everybody loves each other. Highly recommended.

The Peacekeepers/Warriors is an excellent work of art and real life... Its brilliant in its cinematography and characterization & poignant and intense in its portrayal of a real life situation which showed humanity's brutal face in the advent of the Civil War in Bosnia... What makes this story so depressing yet so worthy of being watched is its authenticity in portraying events that happened only some years back right in front of our eyes. It leaves you frustrated and guilty at not being able to help those who were most in need of it. The movie is a historical document and in its silent way, invokes humanity, compassion and the dire need for kindness in everyone's heart... It reminded me of Conrad's "Heart of Darkness" and the haunting words "horror, horror!!!" at seeing the dark side of humanity. Yet the only saving grace was that the UN soldiers who were reduced to the role of nothing but zombies had hearts and souls and that became their tragedy. The Warriors/ Peacekeepers is an effort to jolt the conscience of the world and to rise them up from their silly, petty concerns and be bold enough to stay good in the midst of horror and darkness... Ioan Gruffudd is brilliant as always... And Mathew Macfaydan brings heart to this grim story of love and lost humanity. I wish more and more people get to watch this. Highly Recommended!

This is a good movie. It does everything it does well, from the acting to directing to writing. But allow me to note that the vast majority of reviewers here have gone on tangents attacking the U.S. about not "getting involve earlier" in the conflict. Obviously if the U.S. and NATO had gotten involve earlier, a lot of lives would have been lost. This should show you what HYPOCRITES this great "world community" -- that I keep hearing about whenever someone has something negative to say about the U.S. -- truly are. This, in a nutshell, is the hypocrisy of the world. For America, it's a lost cause. If we interfere, we're suddenly "imperialists trying to push our beliefs on the world" blah blah blah; or they might say we're trying to "bully the world" again. But if we DON'T interfere, then we're "selfish and apathetic, and useless and should have done this and done that". RE: Can't win either way. This is a good movie and it should be seen by everyone, but I do wish the people on this board would grow a brain. Or, at the very least, grow a brain capable of LOGICAL THINKING instead of going off on their "emotions". If you back track the bulk of the reviewers on this board, you'll see that many of the same ones decrying a lack of U.S. involvement in Bosnia for this movie, is decrying TOO MUCH U.S. involvement in other conflicts. Can't win for losing, I tell ya. And "the rest of the world" wonders why we don't care what they think. IT'S BECAUSE YOU PEOPLE CAN'T MAKE UP YOUR BLOODY MINDS, THAT'S WHY!!

BBC has always had a strong reputation of excellence, this hasn'talways been true naturally, but in this film the BBC once againmakes it clear that when it comes to drama you must turn to theBBC for the very best. Although it's about the war and surrounding conflicts of the breakup of former Yugoslavia, it focuses on the persons involved and indoing so, conveys in a very strong way the sentiments and anxietythey so clearly experienced in this horrific conflict. It is realistic andthere is no easy way of describing it, one could say that it is asdifficult as describing as it must be to if one had actually beenthere, taking part of the horrible situation in the lengthy process ofthe destruction of Yugoslavia.
