Highly Overrated But Still Good

This movie tries so hard to be funny, yet it falls flat every time. Just another example of recycled ideas repackaged with women in an attempt to appeal to a certain audience.

There are moments that feel comical, some horrific, and some downright inspiring but the tonal shifts hardly matter as the end results come to a film that's perfect for this time.

War Horse is simple. Don't have any kind of tramps, spin or turns in his plot, but is a great example of how Steven Spielberg is one of the best story tellers in the history of cinema. This movie is a powerful piece of feeling, and a prodigy of technical talent.War Horse is made it at the "old school style" with a marvelous photography, an amazing soundtrack, a camera that just work close to perfection; and all of this with no overdose of CGI like the films of nowadays. I' ve seen all the movies os his director and im pretty sure that this one have THE BEST SHOT ever made by Spielberg: The scene of the Horse running out by the battle field... Because is just AWESOME. And see this part of the movie could be a good reason that deserves watch his more of two hours, and all the respect and admiration for one director that made us love that horse, like if was yours. Beautiful film.

In 1912, a teenage boy Albert Naracott meets the horse Joey and befriends it. The father of Albert bought this horse to work in the fields but his future will be shaken up in 1914. Joey will serve the French army against the german troops, during World War I. Albert will very badly live this seperation so he will engage in the army to find his horse. During the fighting, Joey will show bravery and temerity. The plot is based around the fights and adventures suffered by characters including Joey. This is a very emotional film. The film stands out in a good way because the hero of the story is a horse (quite original) and we attach to him and accompany him during his fight. We are immersed in the story and we feel included in the different friendships, that make the film powerful. We understand the harshness of the fighting and what the soldiers could feel as well as animals which were suffering without means to defend themselves. The fillm represents the war very well and doesn't focus only on the soldiers but also on the heroic acts of the horse as well as pain and suffering. This film goes above clichés and romances. What we can blame in this film is that it may be too emotional, whith too many sad scenes. There are many scenes of violence and death is very present throughout the film which may displease the public. The film can also look long at certain times. But this is an excellent film. You must watch it !

In the beginning, War Horse looks like a rather standard boy-and-his-pet movie, as a young man takes charge of and falls in love with a horse. This takes place in lovely farmland with picturesque people. It's good, especially Emily Watson as the mom, but it's not ultimately what the movie is.When the horse is sold to a soldier at the beginning of world war I, it becomes clear that this is a movie not about a boy's love for his horse but about the ways in which war destroys everything it touches. This is not a war between good and evil, but instead a war between human beings who have been born in one country or another. No one even seems to understand what the fight is about; they just fight because they are told to.The horse, Joey, finds himself on both sides of the conflict, and his story becomes the tale of the people whose lives briefly intersect with his. It is a way to tell a story in breadth, although for some the approach is too episodic. As of now, this is the last time Spielberg really showed off his visual flair. At first, the movie is just scenic, but as it moves into war, there are stunning sequences, like soldiers riding through a wheat field or a terrible act synchronized to the turn of a windmill blade, that remind you of Spielberg's films of the previous century.Well worth watching.

Steven Spielberg is one of the best directors in film history, if not the best, made remarkable films as The Schindler List, Saving Private Ryan, Munich, Jaws, Jurassic Park and Indiana Jones trilogy, it is sad to see this great director is currently making only middling films, I hope he gets back to make great movies, War Horse is only reasonable, has a good soundtrack, impeccable photography, great costumes and a good cast, the script I found a bit lazy, had moments that I found very played, the direction of Spielberg is good more he loses hand after the half, the battle scenes are good technically, more does not excite, the acting is weak, the best actor is the horse, the special effects are good, the pace is kind of slow, the movie is too long, I liked the first 30 minutes after the film worsens, and an hour is well drawn, War Horse is an average movie has positive points, negative points stands out, Spielberg is losing the quality of your old movies. Note 5.0
