Who payed the critics

A lot of perfectly good film show their cards early, establish a unique premise and let the audience explore a topic at a leisurely pace, without much in terms of surprise. this film is not one of those films.

In 1898, three women prisoners of a misogynistic and racist society struggle with family and relationship. The miniseries culminate with a trip to Egypt where the women discover the sun, the picturesque scenery and themselves.
