Heroin addict Mark Renton stumbles through bad ideas and sobriety attempts with his unreliable friends -- Sick Boy, Begbie, Spud and Tommy. He also has an underage girlfriend, Diane, along for the ride. The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.

TrainspottingFew such drug related features gets it right and the primary reason it does, is the resonance towards the practicality among these pragmatic characters whose trajectories are unpredictable and justifying; the perfect balance that every writer dreams for. The writing is strong, effective and confident in its own malleable bubble that isn't afraid to visit new places and tell its own story. And even though the feature is dark and inedible to encounter, the humour installed in here doesn't seem forced and instead ironically completely palpable to its tone. The chemistry and the conversations between the lead characters communicates fairly to the audience as it offers lots of mutual thing to connect easily. A smart adaptation by John Hodge; the screenwriter, keeps it short and to-the-point with perfect editing. And as far as execution is concerned, Danny Boyle has got it covered and has done some of his best work in here as a director. Ewan McGregor is convincing in his portrayal of a drug addict and is pretty much left to carry on the whole feature on his shoulder where he is supported decently by the cast. Trainspotting is a definite visit, as it redefines the genre and offers enough thought-provoking homework to the audience along with keeping them entertained throughout the course of it.

I want to see as many as possible and that's why I rarely repeat movies, but some movies one simply has to watch over and over again. "Trainspotting" is one of those. With "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" (1998) and "Requiem for a Dream" (2000) it makes a "holy trinity" of drug addiction movies. While I really can not stand the first two, "Trainspotting" is real masterpiece in every way. Story is adapted from cult novel of the same name by Irvin Welsh, about Mark Renton, heroin addict from Edinburgh, and his low-life friends. Although at no time does it condemn drug addiction directly, the film shows the life of addicts in a way that is much more effective than any moralizing. The story is fast paced, full of crazy and surreal situations, unforgettable scenes, black humor, and phenomenal dialogue and monologues. Great acting, original directing and one of the best soundtracks of all time. Movie that instantly became cult classic and even after two decades it does not lose any of its strength.10/10

8.5/10 for clarification. Trainspotting's opening sequence is a beautifully powerful representation of what the film undeniably succeeds at and revels in: quality performances an accompanying soundtrack that energises and propels the picture, deliciously dark humour and excellently crafted dialogue. Although some of the drama occasionally veers towards being a little tedious, Trainspotting always seem to redeem itself with a hilarious moment or unique line of dialogue. Throughout it's duration, Trainspotting hosts a commendable number of stunning and original scenes. I personally found the ending to be a spectacular affair that left me reeling to watch the sequel.

I remember I use to go to my grandparents apartment when I was a kid, and going into my uncles old room at the time i remember seeing this poster of the movie trainspotting and I wanted to watch the movie but at the time i was very young and my parents wouldn't let me watch it just yet. Within a year ago I saw it on netflix and I had to watch it since i remember my uncle having the poster. When I watched it I was hooked. From start to finish I couldn't take my eyes off of it. The story caught my attention and I was addicted. As the movie ended I was amazed at what I had just watched! It was funny, depressing, crazy! A movie that can not be forgotten by anyone who loved this movie! 10/10 FLAT OUT AMAZING!!!!!
