I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.

One of the film's great tricks is that, for a time, you think it will go down a rabbit hole of unrealistic glorification.

a group of complete strangers are put in a locked room together to test a new pill being developed by a pharmaceutical company. although they don,t know it at first, the pill is meant to grant powers to the person who takes itthe prospect of a pill that grants powers may seem enticing, but as the characters soon discover, the powers they gain may not be so easy to control, and pretty soon, they start to die gruesome deaths, and are unable to leave the room for 8 hours. at 80 mins, it's pretty short, but the story moved at a good pace and i was never bored

I don't usually do review on the site, specially because Spanish is my mother language and my English is... weird, sometimes. But this film worth a few words I will be a bit technical now: Performance 7.5 / 10 9/10 Effects Screenplay 8/10 Final 9/10 The issue in question is slow, and a warning moderately. I have to say I liked most of all the effects and the idea of the script Although the performances only "Nikki" was credible, and the "Giggles" is an irreverent annoying dude with the accent that I found odious, did pretty good. The story, the main idea is what matters despite the slow development: What if ordinary people obtain super powers? Who does not dream of having a superpower? The result is a series of events contrary to Hollywood movies with marvelians shades to what people are used to, and it reminded me of that classic of the 2001 Creature Feature called "Earth vs.The Spider" I think it's worth seeing, but not to see like the typical superhero movie but as a mental exercise. As a final note, a fairly high note (in my opinion) to recommend. It is not for any audience. 8.5 / 10 I have. give it that +5 because of the end... I loved the end Greetings from Uruguay And you must see the post-credits, it worth to take a look

There's some fun dialogue at times. There's an interesting idea. Good casting. The basic story is, conceptually, good. But the problem I had watching it was that I was thrown every 30 seconds between hating the script and all illogical stuff, and getting back to that it was actually quite fun and entertaining. There's plenty of illogical stuff going on in this movie, and in that I don't even include the stuff that were meant to be illogical, or the sci-fi element.I think my problem with The Subjects boils down to that this movie could have been good if it had focused more on one of the genres/themes it contained: comedy, a group of people stuck together, superpowers, or the clinical trial experiment. Choose one and tone the other three down. But now, the comedy comes sporadically, the group of people stuck together had to be compressed in between everything else that went down, the superpowers were too over the top, and the clinical trial was just a means for transportation to get to the scenario set up (from a scientific standpoint it was cringe worthy).I switched back and fourth between enjoying The Subjects and finding it ridiculous.Today I gave it 4/6 Any other day I could have given it a 6/10 depending on the mood

The concept was great but failure to understand what made similar 'one room' movies such as the Cube work, translated into a jarring and ultimately boring experience.Acting for the most part is rather bland, if not terrible from most. A few among their number such as Charlotte Nicdao,Paul Henri and Tosh Greenslade demonstrate themselves as being capable of greater (possibly even great) things. The decision to have American accents did not work in anyones favour and only exaggerated the existing flaws in the script. The writing itself comes into it's own near the end. However much of it before that comes across as stilted, with conversations feeling unnatural and poorly written. The latter half certainly shows off a great deal of Robert Mond's potential, but the poor early scenes fail to build up any investment in the characters for the end to pay off. A few more projects under his belt and Mond may be a director/writer worth following in the near future.Until then, the subjects is probably a good case study of how not to do 'one room' movies, or how a movie can be close to being 'good' but fails to deliver.
